***GIANT HAYSTACKS are a trio from Oakland, California that favors short songs and short sets. This lot proves that a band can play minimalist music with topical/intelligent lyrics without sounding overbearing and pretentious (or like they're from Williamsburg). Fourteen tracks of urgent, sharp, somewhat oblique rock that eschews all pretense.
