***NALLE was formed in Glasgow in the summer of 2004. The group consists of HANNA TUULIKKI (vocals, kantele, flutes), ABY VULLIAMY (viola) and CHRIS HLADOWSKI (bouzouki, clarinet). All three group members have performed with SCATTER, and Chris and Aby also play in THE ONE ENSEMBLE OF DANIEL PADDEN, amongst other projects. By Chance on Waking is the group's debut release. Fused with magic, the haunting songs and sprawling melodies speak of our relationship with the sun, the mountains, and ravens. The songs center around narratives (sung in both English and Finnish—betraying Hanna Tuulikki's dual roots) augmented by tonal explorations using vocals, guitar, kantele, flutes, viola, bouzouki and clarinet with melodic wizardry, drawing on folk forms in a wholly idiosyncratic manner.
