***TITLE TRACKS deliver songs of uncanny structure and form were up online almost instantly, and even in demo form the tunes seemed to hit upon a crack formula: Immediate, but timeless; homespun, but epic. JOHN DAVIS has an almost scientific—but never clinical—approach to songwriting; bits and pieces and diverse influences (culled from such wells as past stints in bands like Q AND NOT U and GEORGIE JAMES; a holy-grailstocked record collection; a savant-like literacy in power pop and punk; a moonlighting gig as a radio disc jockey; and more) sort of explode and fall into place with a kind of Tetris-esque satisfaction. After several years of co-writing songs with others, in January of 2008, he started work on writing his first music as a solo composer. The debut Title Tracks single on Dischord contains some of those first songs.
