***When considering Charlotte, NC, three things should come to mind: Ric “The Nature Boy” Flair, NASCAR, and the kings of Destructo Rock ANTiSEEN. Undoubtedly, you can guess which one we are here to talk about….
The early 1990s saw ANTiSEEN evolve from regional antiheroes to a global force of Evil Rockn’Roll. Between storming Europe and extensive domestic terror campaigns, the band managed to record 1992’s Eat More Possum, an album now regarded as one of their best and most definitive records.
Now it would be simple enough to end the discussion there and hurl another reissue into the ring. BUT, as you well know by now, dear reader, that’s not how things get done here at TKO Records. So buckle up…
Despite Eat More Possum’s legendary status, the truth is that the album never really got the chance to live up to the band’s original vision. The 1992/1993 Safe House (US) / Zuma (EU) version was mastered and released with producer Jeff Dahl’s mastering instructions COMPLETELY IGNORED, much to the band’s dismay. While later reissues on TPOS, Man’s Ruin and even the TKO in 2002 all did their level best to rectify the mistake, none of these efforts ever achieved the sound intended for the original version.
Fast forward to 2026. At long last, TKO has once again braved the VAULT OF ANTiSEEN. We have managed to dig up the original 1/4” mixdown reels, and unearth Jeff Dahl’s original hand-written mastering notes. These materials were delivered to elite mastering expert Adam Gonsalves, who has painstakingly remastered Eat More Possum from those original tapes, following Dahl’s instructions to the letter.
The result is this NEW VERSION of Eat More Possum, AT LONG LAST presented as it was first intended to sound. After nearly 35 years and multiple failed attempts, ladies and gentlemen, THE POSSUM HAS LANDED. Bon appetit.
So…whether you climbed aboard in 1992 or 2002, or anywhere in between, it’s time to get ready to hear one of your favorite albums again FOR THE FIRST TIME.
TKO is proud to present—FINALLY and DEFINITELY —the last version of Eat More Possum you’ll ever need.
