With With singer/songwriter CAROLYN PENNYPACKER RIGGS effortlessly charming local San Francisco crowds with her deceptively coy approach to musical storytelling, San Francisco acoustic duo THE FINCHES amazingly sold the whole first pressing of their self-released CD—quite a feat considering the sales were just from local shows and the band’s web site. Bringing to mind that rare club of songwriters who gracefully ride the line between pop and folk, from Vashti Bunyan to Tracy Thorn (Marine Girls), Six Songs CD received stellar reviews and attracted rabid fans far and near. Now Dulc-i-Tone Records has stepped in to bring their fine talents to the erudite world of vinyl connoisseurs, adding on a wonderful lost bonus track in the process. The LP is housed in a deluxe jacket letterpressed with a linocut drawn (and printed) by Riggs herself. And if that’s not enough, the LP also includes a frame-worthy two-color letterpress print (also by Riggs) available only with this release. The Finches will be touring across the US near the release of their debut full-length CD, Human Like a House, which will be released by Dulc-i-Tone in Fall 2006.
