Four Eyes, The

***The Four Eyes are a long-standing Sacramento "budget rock" band, recognized for their endurance in the local scene alongside bands like The Bananas, NAR and The Trouble Makers. Their recordings, particularly on Secret Center Records, are noted for a comically lo-fi sound, sometimes described as "listening with a pillow over your head.”

The Four Eyes are fronted by diamond-in-the-rough-crooner Joel Goulet and backed by the fact-based and austere rhythm section of drummer Jay Baker and bass-machine player Dave Ninja. Although originating from the coastal college town of Santa Cruz, they are mantel barriers of what some call “the Sacramento sound.”

Now for the real question: What is Earth 2025 you might ask? Well, Earth 2025 is a turn based, text based internet video game created in 1996. The game brings together tens thousands of players in an interactive gaming environment that's addictive, entertaining, and engaging. You'll get the opportunity to take command of a fledgling country and manage its economy, military, diplomacy and more as you try to make yourself the most powerful in the world. (Just make sure to avoid the dreaded CA$HER $LASHER!!!).

Earth 2025 (the record) is a first ever joint release by two stalwart Sacramento record labels Secret Center Records and Sacramento Records. Side A was recorded in Northern California by Joel Goulet (of the Four Eyes) and originally appears on The Four Eyes release Five Songs about Videogames and one about something else. The B-side was recorded live at Charles Albright Fest by Jeffrey Melendez in 2024. All tracks were mastered by the late and great Patrick Haight.
