***The master haters here at Slovenly couldn’t be more keyed up to present the debut 7” from brand new West Palm Beach, FL freaks NEW COKE. What can we say? This record is a HIT. There’s two razor sharp, uncontrollable dark-pop stab-jobs here that sound like nothing else we’ve ever heard before. Influences range from Reigning Sound and Suicide (the band) to acute stress (the condition), broke down rhythm & blues and vintage soul shouters, and a severely warped interpretation of the vocal phrasing of the stand up comedy of Richard Pryor (no joke- it has duly been broken down to us, bruz). You might not be able to hear ANY of these influences, but they are indeed lurking in the depth. Self-released in an edition of 300 copies, the double A-side beasts “He Got Stabbed In The Throat” b/w “All I Want Is Your Sunshine” have been in constant rotation in the Slovenly Sound Lab. The single comes in a glossy sleeve with subtly disturbing front and back cover images, lyric sheet included, and the vinyl itself has a tough UK style push-out 45 RPM center.
