One of the many problems with the artist is that sooner or later they may attempt to revisit their roots, and then you know you're in for it. In this case, "roots" isn't the best depiction (strictly speaking, Mr. NU was playing in bands during the 90s) but we can now disclose that No UFO's spent much of the 00s a) DJing, b) making frequent trips to Chicago and other American cities to coax house and disco records from poker-faced bins, and c) producing tracks with his Akai MPC. Consequently his familiarity with dance music runs a wee bit deeper than he may want to let on. Yes, perhaps there's more than we expected going on here - not merely the adoption of au courant tropes but, even worse, nostalgia. Well, we choose to be willfully blind to these suggestions and put forth an alternate theory: he's having fun here!  Yes, it's true - it's present in his playful use of Alan Parsons samples, the cheeky Captain Beyond allusion, what may be his first substantial use of bass frequencies, not to mention the intermittent 100-110 BPM thump: FUN. Isn't that all any listener could want?  No further explanation needed.
