***There is more than a little self-irony when Woude sings “old farts never die, they just turn into punks” in "Vanhat pierut" (Old Farts). The lead singer—after whom the band was named—Woude was far from the archetypal angry punk with his long hair and sunny smile, and their lyrics, now in Finnish, were more about relationships than rebellion. Helsinki-based Woude became a kind of spokesband for their early 80’s generation. Maybe a bit softer and more romantic than many of their contemporaries, but still thoroughly cutting edge.
