In October 2015, Baker and Järmyr, having never previously played together, met up in Berlin's Golden Retriever Studios. Over the course of the day, they played two entirely improvisational sets, presented here as two separate CDs, exploring sounds which combine minimal atmospheres and propulsive noise, abstract melodics and dense drone metal. Werl was mastered by James Plotkin and features artwork by Belgian artist Kato Six. Aidan Baker is a Canadian musician and writer currently based in Berlin, Germany. Classically trained in flute, he is self-taught on guitar, drums, and various other instruments. As a solo artist, Baker explores the deconstructive sonic possibilities of the electric guitar as a primary sound source, creating music that ranges from experimental to post-rock to contemporary classical. He also performs with the groups Nadja and B/B/S/, among other projects. Tomas Järmyr is a Swedish drummer currently based in Trondheim, Norway. He plays with several groups (Zu, Yodok III, Barchan), as well as performing solo, exploring percussive based sounds that move between ambient, jazz, and metal.

Adoran's follow up to their self-titled debut, featuring two extended tracks of sludgy, atmospheric, drone-doom. This second album was also recorded live at Polyphasic Studios in Toronto, Canada, with mastering by James Plotkin, but follows a more atmospheric and restrained approach compared to their first album, while still being heavy and noisy. With artwork by Karlynn Holland. Adoran is a duo of Aidan Baker (of Nadja, Caudal, B/B/S) on drums and Dorian Williamson (of Northumbria, Holoscene) on bass. Making largely improvisational music, the duo explores heavy and atmospheric sounds, combining elements of doom and sludge with experimental and avant-garde. Active sporadically since 2008, the project released their self-titled debut album in spring 2013 with the Belgian label Consouling Sounds. They are currently working on a third album.

With Lost in the Rat Maze, Aidan Baker delivers an unconventional album—even by Baker standards. Known for his extensive ambient soundscapes, here he takes a different approach. Instead of a broad, densely layered palette, he employs post-rock composition methods: more compact, pointed and clear progressions together with a diverse array of instruments, sounds and techniques. Expect the classic Baker elements—captivating, fascinating, repetitive, mesmerizing sounds—but with a twist. Baker is a Canadian musician and writer who has performed around the world, both solo and with his partner Leah Buckareff in the ambient-doom duo Nadja. A prolific artist, he has released numerous albums on Alien8 Recordings, Beta-Lactam Ring Records, Drone Records and many more. He is also the author of a several books of poetry. Baker currently lives in Berlin, Germany.
