***On Up, the fourth and fullest offering from D.I.N., the Los Angeles outfit has effortlessly navigated a path of paradox. JOSIE VAND's feathery vocal contrasts with GREG VAND's persistent electronics, falling in and out of harmony with coy leads and unceasing rhythm. Nothing is hidden here beneath reverb and chicanery; sounds are clear and precise, forcing the listener to confront the splendor and mystery of dry electricity. Syncopated percussion drives beneath floating melodies, threatening discord while drawing us toward something wistful, sweet and earnest. On “Something,” a playful synth lead welcomes before its menacing partner joins in lower register; at first we feel undermined, but in fact the space has been transmuted—it now points forward. The titular track is the most direct invitation to this new city, where light refracts through strange architecture. Fluttering harmonies point unhurriedly ahead beneath Josie’s delicate singsong. The record itself is a beckoning, and one can only accept. Rigorous adherence to the palette of hardware might suggest pastiche, but here D.I.N. sidesteps a pitfall of so many contemporaries: D.I.N. plays with the past without aping it. It is through this intermingling that Up becomes a record not only about the experience of living now, but about the common experience of living always.

Having previously released some of our favorite music on labels like Downwards and Jealous God, Weiland's new offering features 3 originals from the Minneapolis native + 2 edits from Germany's MICK WILLS and a remix by DKA co-founders PYRAMID CLUB, this is a journey through textured murk, melancholic musings and deranged rhythmic euphoria, distorted drums clash against harsh tones to create an environment both familiar and completely alien, grounded by Collin's deep, dead pan spoken word. For the b-side, Mick Wills revisits Collin's track from our previously released Strategies Against The Body vol. II LP compilation. an amazing yet utterly un-DJ-friendly track Mick has wrestled with and wrangled into an extended late night dance floor slayer. This is followed by Pyramid Club's reinterpretation of "Ballet Of Pose" from the A-side, stripping it back to it's most percussive elements and propelling it forward with a steadily snowballing momentum.

***"DKA is very honored to be able to present, on vinyl for the first time, BLACK RAIN's (led by STUART ARGABRIGHT of IKE YARD, DOMINATRIX) Metal Rain 1988-1993. This archival release captures the group at a time when it was experimenting with a more traditional 4-piece rock set up (drums/guitars/bass/vocals), although the results are anything but traditional. Interspersed with bits of scraping ambient and textural forays this is a record full of thrash and riffs and energy. While the palette is far removed from what fans might expect based on their more recent output, the core aesthetic ideas and principles that drive those tracks can still be heard throughout this wildly different format. The result is surprisingly varied and extremely dense and rewarding. This is a historically rich document that is integral to the development of the downtown New York scene that was so vital in this time." LP includes an insert. ***BACK IN STOCK!!!  Stockholm's machine-maniac CELLDÖD (real name ANDERS KARLSSON) has been active in various punk and electronic outfits since the late '90s and now lands on DKA for his second full-length album (and first for the label), Fragmenterade Minnen. Karlsson's prolific solo project has released numerous cassettes and 12"s in addition to his debut LP on Suction Records in 2015, as well as the Brutal Disciplin of his Vargdöd (Varg + Celldöd) collaboration. Fans of Karlsson's previous efforts will find lots to enjoy here, as he explores the ideas, textures, and rhythms of the Celldöd sound over 10 tracks of Liasons Dangerous-esque industrial funk with flares of body music and techno. Karlsson's ability to make such a heavy sound bounce and swing is what gives these tracks the ability to light up even the coldest dance floors. The performances captured are raw and inspired and the feeling transfers directly to the listener as your body slowly starts to move in unison with the beat.

The Real Dirt LP is infectiously understated from start to finish, and as the follow up to their Saturate EP on Ascetic House it proves that DIN is a serious force in modern synth music. Those familiar with the label may recognize Greg Vand from his role in the great HIGH-FUNCTIONING FLESH, however DIN will likely appeal more to fans of Factory Floor, Tropic of Cancer, and Boy Harsher. Josie Vand has previously performed as a member of DVA DAMAS and contributed her visual art talents to the Jealous God label.

***SALLY DIGE is a multidisciplinary artist known for her darkly poetic yet highly danceable electro-pop songs, DIY stylistic videos, design and visual art. Sally‘s deep and commanding voice, coupled with her analogue-visual-processes and overlapping artistic mediums has formed an identity that oscillates between the edges of aggression and fragility, old and new. Holding On was created during the time of intense inner turmoil. Despite being stretched to her emotional limits, Sally did not let the weight of her circumstances break her, instead channeling all of her pain and fears into the production of a series of incredibly powerful songs. Stunningly, Sally used only her voice and a single synth to create this album. Even with so little gear, the songs are anything but minimal. Each song has a minimum of 100 tracks and, for some songs, 100 tracks for just the drum section alone. Every audible sound has 20 other sounds swimming beneath it. These are songs written for dance floors but are sung about loneliness, death and the meaninglessness of existence. Sally‘s work tows the line between a blissful innocence and a heavy darkness. Think Gina X flavored post punk-disco rubbing against Twitch-era Ministry‘s lost Sade collab or Enya on LSD after a break up. Holding On is Sally‘s second album, following her debut Hard to Please, out on Avant! in Europe and DKA in North America, with two separate cover designs. LP comes in printed innersleeve with lyrics.
