One Piece In Four Parts
Histrionic

***Continuing on a journey begun with last year’s Templates Made or Found, Andy (Jessamine) Brown and David Farrell travel in a more melodic direction on this new album. With nods to Folke Rabe, early Popul Vuh and Tangerine Dream, the four pieces on this CD work to create a pulsing,  meditative and expansive cranial space.

***An improvised live set featuring Sonic Boom (as E.A.R.) on modular synthesizers, theremin and bowed cymbals. Prior to hitting the stage, Mr. Boom made a sketch indicating peaks and valleys along a timeline that the group used as a "map" for the music to be played. What followed, though, nobody could have predicted. Beginning as a wash of Mr. Boom's modulating oscillators, the sound soon transformed when Jessamine's unique groove began to surface. The music synergized into a craft that the group members gently guided across the map and its diverse terrain, without words or signals. As the last notes died down, all in attendence knew that they had experienced an important moment in time.  Leading up to the evening, Jessamine had completed their mostly improvised album, "The Long Arm of Coincidence" and the collaborative EP "A Pox on You" with Mr. Boom's other project Spectrum (released on Space Age Recordings). Concurrently, Mr. Boom had mastered a new sound focused around a barrage of modular sythesizers. Living Sound was a convergence; a compelling aural document that will serve as a reference for 1996.
