***To put it simply, THE GLOOMIES were created out of bits of dust—an infamous chthonian hellhole that should have been wiped of the map far before it reached the listeners ear. The Southern California duo understands the importance of feeling alive amongst the darkness of broken and vivid realities that encompass the dualities of human interaction. The Gloomies' ANDY CRAIG creates a meteoric sound that instills both the hypnotic vibe of Southern California beach days and the grungy jazz that infiltrate the streets of New York City. The ominous, yet, catchy melodies provide a moody atmosphere for any listener. Their popularity began to rise in the end of 2015 with the single, “LSD,” and their release off the EP Blackout in 2016. Growth continued in 2017 with the release of their latest single “Space” featuring Madeline Follin of NYC indie-pop band Cults. Front man Andy Craig and drummer CHRIS TROMBLEY began their music career together when they met in 2013 and played in the band SACCO. They have since created songs that exhibit a layer of fantastical and hypnotic themes. This in turn bolstered their popularity with their fan base in that they feature a darker, sultrier vibe than their previous work. Fast-forward to the present—The Gloomies release their long-awaited highly anticipated debut album Romance.

***After an eight-year hiatus, THE WILLOWZ are back with a new full-length. Fifth sees the band build upon their punk rock roots to deliver a heavy mix of hard rock riffs and raucous hooks. Produced by lead-singer/guitarist RICHIE JAMES FOLLIN and mixed by drummer LOREN HUMPHREY, the record blends slicing anthems with the band's signature cool. Since their days as a garage rock outfit in Anaheim, Calfornia in 2002, The Willowz have quietly built their own cult following. Releasing their self-titled debut album in 2003, the band attracted iconic French filmmaker Michel Gondry, who used their track "Something" in his Oscar-winning film, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Subsequent releases have come out on Sympathy For The Record Industry and Dim Mak. Another track, "Equation # 6," was included in Gondry's 2007 film Silence of Sleep.

***"It's been a pretty good year for Mrs. Magician. Back in May, the San Diego indie band put out Bermuda, a record full of trippy and spacey rock music, exploring both psychedelia and the great history of surf rock. Today, they're premiering new single 'You'll Fall in Love.' It's a compact track, packing together a lot of atmosphere, hopefulness and happiness into rapid-fire riffs. Optimistic sentiments ('Someday I'll fall in love') quickly sour ('Turn on the television so I can numb my skull') while the guitars kick into overdrive. The band's pop sensibilities are undeniable, imbuing insanely catchy riffs with subtler elements and instrumentation. Exactly what a single should do."—Clrvynt

***LOWLANDS is a NYC/SD based dark post-punk band comprised of vocalist GABRIEL SPATUZZI and guitarist THOMAS C. GARCIA (MRS. MAGICIAN). Lowlands play slow, dark, mimimalist ghost-punk that draws inspiration form the likes of Rowland S. Howard and Ennio Morricone. Recorded in fits and starts on two different coasts throughout 2014 and 2015, Lover's Blessing is characterized by sparse droning arrangements and wistful, mostly ad-libbed lyrics that touch on themes of loneliness, isolation, architecture, sexual frustration and all forms of doubt (religious, self, etc.).

***There's some lineups in music that are truly untouchable in terms of musical history. This can be said about Dead Heavens, the band that puts together Walter Schreifels (vocals, guitar), Paul Kostabi (Youth Gone Bad, White Zombie), Nathan Aguilar (Cults), and Drew Thomas (Crippled Youth, Bold, Youth of Today) all in one crazy, solid rock band. "Feel Low" brings the chunky and heavy elements from the Can cover “I’m So Green”, maximizing the weight and power to make their sound feel like a fifty ton hammer. The guitar lines in the middle break point of the song give it elements of sludge and absolute pure heaviness, enough to satisfy any fan of ultra heavy rock music. In the span of one song, the band can show a myriad of the best elements guitar rock can throw at you. ––John Hill/Noisey

Guards were formed in the summer of 2010, when Richie James Follin (of The Willlowz, Cults) was on a break from touring. He wrote an EP’s worth of material and decided to put it on the internet under the moniker Guards. The next morning the EP was all over the internet thanks to a few tweets from the EP’s guest vocalists Caroline Polachek of Chairlift and Madeline Follin of Cults. The Guards EP garnered much critical praise. NPR stated the band has "a sound deconstructed through the minds of musicians who look more to memories than they do to the future, and in the process find something that sounds like a new discovery.”. Dazed and Confused had this to say about the band, "the songs are uncompromisingly raw harnessing pessimistic heartache to craft tracks about birth, death and any emotional malaise you might experience in between.”. The Guardian simply stated, "It's pretty fucking impressive”. Requests for live performances from Guards followed shortly after and Follin enlisted the help of Loren Humphrey (also of The Willowz) and Kaylie Schiff. The band released their first full length album “In Guards We Trust" in 2013. The Wall Street Journal touted the record as “one of the years best albums.”, and Pitchfork proclaimed “...slack verses with palm-muted guitars give way to a monster chorus delivered with the confidence that tells you Guards know they have a hit on their hands.” . The NME would refer to the band as “Cali reverb scuzz kings”. Guards toured...

***Born in Bremerton, but raised in San Diego, artist/musician JACOB TURNBLOOM has been conjuring up melodic & strange audio vibration within a slue of bands over the past decade, most recently Swami Records own MRS. MAGICIAN. With every rotating project his music has continued to undergo a metamorphosis, ranging from hi-fi spacey electronic indie rock, post punk/goth, lo-fi bedroom recordings, and surfy garage pop. Thrill Me Records is excited to release the brand new 7” from Jacob Turnbloom entitled, Reborn Boys. A slick & bittersweet artifact steeped in the classic sounds of late '70s power pop/punk with an overabundance of '80s analog synthesizers. Produced by ANDREW MONTOYA (The Sess, Ale Mania, Beaters), the sonic quality of these tunes will dust the chrome off your dome and put a shine on your stinger. For fans of Paul Collins Beat, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Elvis Costello & The Attractions, The Undertones.

***HIDEOUT’s inception began on the road. Made up of GABRIEL RODRIGUEZ (guitar/vocals) and CORY STIER (drums), the duo are longtime friends from San Diego who grew up playing in bands both together and separately. Now touring members of CULTS and living on different coasts, Cory and Gabe took advantage of time on tour by writing music. “Recently I've been playing in other peoples bands,” Gabe says, “however I've always been writing my own music. Cory and I have been collaborating for years. We mostly would work on songs for fun with no real idea of what it would become.” Fast-forward to present day and Hideout is gearing up to release their debut album, Rookie. Rookie is comprised of eleven tracks written and recorded over the course of the last 2 years. “Cory and I live on opposite sides of the country, so writing and recording takes time,” notes Gabe. “I start with demoing songs in my apartment, usually just a guitar riff and a melody. I then send it off to Cory who works on rhythms. We talk about it on the phone, and in person when our schedules allow us to meet up. We both tour in Cults so sometimes we work in hotel rooms or backstage or in the van.” Reminiscent of early Bowie, Rookie is complete with gritty guitar loops and ethereal vocals singing tales of abduction and space travels. “I’m really into Sci-Fi,” Gabe laughs. So much so that three songs on the album are actually an...
