***CHECK STOCK!!! Received an 8.0 rating from Pitchfork. One of entertainment’s most flamboyant musical artistes of the last decade, BABY DEE is back with a new LP, Regifted Light, on Drag City Records. The album is not merely charming, nor simply enchanting and/or deeply touching—it is also an unusually arrayed album, scattering four vocal performances among eight smartly arranged, classically focused instrumentals, creating quintessential Baby Dee in all her unconventional glory. Baby Dee is an extraordinarily feeling talent on the keyboard, and while she can play anything put before her, her passion is for the concert grand: the Steinway D in particular, or, as she puts it, her “Rolls Royce of choice.” This album was composed on a very special Steinway D that has been living with Dee for the past few years and is as responsible as she is for the dynamic music and sounds of Regifted Light. Produced by ANDREW W.K. No Export to Europe.

***After seeing the overwhelming response to Safe Inside the Day in February 2008, the peerless BABY DEE returns with A Book of Songs For Anne Marie. What was overwhelming about the response was the pure reaction to the purity of expression in Dee’s music. That dizzying sense of self is again an essential feature of this new music. While the last album was lit with the production fire of Will Oldham and Matt Sweeney producing, A Book of Songs For Anne Marie glows softly with the calming presence of MAXIM MOSTON (arranger of some standing and part of Antony and the Johnsons’ touring band). In essence, this album is a prequel to Safe Inside the Day. The songs here were released in a different set of recordings and in a limited-edition book form (150 copies!) on David Tibet’s Durtro label back in 2004. For most listeners, this is its first outing. No Exports Outside of North America. Received a 7.9 rating from Pitchfork.

Baby Dee’s deluxe, double-CD retrospective set compiles all the music from her Little Window and Love’s Small Song albums, originally available in limited numbers via World Serpent and long out-of-print. Also included are the tracks from her limited, mailorder-only EP Made For Love. Baby Dee is a wonderfully distinctive performer, alternating between harp, accordion, and piano. Her voice harkens back to cabaret performers of old and appeals to fans of her friend Antony. Dee is also a member of Current 93 and is featured on the forthcoming Pantaleimon album. The new Baby Dee record is scheduled for late Fall and will be released by Drag City.
