Portland Oregon’s EYELIDS release their new 7” (and 11th vinyl release within their 5 year history!) via the legendary Chunklet Records (Zach Galafinakis, Pylon, Olivia Tremor Control, Apples In Stereo). Bringing together what Eyelids does best matching beautiful music to bummer vibes or what they simply call “lopsided rock”. We think it’s their catchiest release to date but it also has the heaviest lyrical weight to date capturing the current mood of hope and hopelessness. The band is also putting out the new record to lead into their extensive 2019 touring schedule and both songs are exclusive to this 7” (their 3rd full length, “The Accidental Falls”, was produced by Peter Buck of R.E.M. and will be out Fall 2019). They also have a new video to go with this 7” (their previous ones have premiered on pitchfork, tidal, big takeover and mojo) and will be premiering before street date. Eyelids were formed from members of Guided By Voices, The Decemberists, Malkmus/Jicks & Elliott Smith’s band. They’ve toured all over the world with Dream Syndicate, The Charlatans, Rain Parade, The Cribs, The Drive-By Truckers and Fruit Bats.

For a new band, Eyelids have quite a collective history with some of the most legendary indie songwriters ever. Not only were these longtime Portland, Oregon, collaborators the principal instrumentalists for Robert Pollard’s post-Guided By Voices band Boston Spaceships for over eight releases, but they have also worked in recent years with Stephen Malkmus, The Decemberists, Elliot Smith, Sam Coomes (Quasi), Black Prairie, Jason Lytle (Grandaddy), Loch Lomand, Damien Jurado and Peter Buck. For Seagulls Into Submission, Eyelids turned inwards to their loves of New Zealand / Flying Nun guitar buzz, teenage L.A. Paisley Underground obsessions, haunts of early Athens, and all things beautiful, lopsided, and rock. The 7-inch is just a hint of what the band is working on for their upcoming full-length recorded with Adam Selzer (The Gossip, The Breeders, Red Fang) as well as their head-swirling live shows. The single includes a non-album B-side “I Can’t Be Told” plus a download featuring an exclusive live cover of Gun Club’s classic “Sex Beat” performed with Jerry A. (Poison Idea) and Steve Wynn (Dream Syndicate). Limited edition of 500 copies.
