Denver’s Git Some are back with a new three-song 7-inch—seven minutes of blistering rock perfection recorded and mixed in their practice space, and mastered by the lovely and talented Bob Ferbache in Elktooth, Colorado. This collection of material was written over the last few months and is available just in time for a big 21-day tour of the eastern USA and Canada (14 dates with Converge!). Emerging from underneath loud-as-fuck blasts of noise, the band’s driving, angular punk rock thrusts unexpectedly from all directions. Their live show is a testament to the catharsis that is Git Some. A schizoid, heavily-bearded vocalist takes the reigns of the ever-accelerating, ever-destined-to-perish-in-flames rock ’n’ roll vehicle. Peals of feedback disseminate to relinquish a big beat: an intense rock / punk / hardcore sound, while completely their own, gives the listener subtle clues as to their roots. Formed in Chicago in 2002 and transplanted to Denver in 2004, Git Some wasted no time self-releasing two EPs, distributing over 5,000 of them across the US, Europe and Japan while on tour in Planes Mistaken for Stars, one of their other bands. Since that band called it a day in 2007, Git Some has released a split 7-inch and two full-length records on the labels 1-2-3-4-Go! and Alternative Tentacles Records, respectively. Git Some have plans to record a new album this summer.

Formed in Chicago in 2003 by guitarist Chuck French and bassist Neil Keener (both former members of Planes Mistaken For Stars), Git Some has morphed into the lean and mean Denver-based quartet that it is today. Loose Control is their sophomore release following 2008's Cosmic Rock (1-2-3-4 Go! Records). French and Keener take the raw-edged guitar and bass tones and riffs for which Planes Mistaken For Stars was well known and render them spikier and more rhythmically intense. Vocalist Lucius Fairchild balances soulful wails and harsh screams; his approach works well with lyrics that avoid broad statements on politics / society in favor of inward looks at a complex, dark and often disturbing personal inner landscape. Drummer Andrew Lindstrom's solid but constantly shifting foundation delivers beats that underline the structure of each song, and intense fills that contribute a sense of spontaneity and surprise.  "This band rules on many levels. Git Some makes furious metalized, messy punk rock like very few can. Upon listening to the first couple of songs from [Cosmic Rock], for some strange reason I was instantly reminded of a wilder, louder, constantly belligerent and consistently solid Les Savy Fav.... Git Some have that same careless delivery, that quirky wild abandon that's so lost in today's punk scene. Git Some's music runs like its being carried away by spirits." --Deaf Sparrow

***GIT SOME is a band from Denver, Colorado consisting of four dudes (including Chuck and Neil from Planes Mistaken For Stars) who grew up on 80's punk rock, Reagan-era America, and shitty weed, discharging cathartic bursts of noise that shatter angst and inhibitions. Cosmic Rock was born of wild abandon, loud-ass guitar, bass and drums, and an explosive singer. It's all the good things about hardcore stripped of the agenda, all the great things about metal and hard rock stripped of the unnecessary machismo.
