Better known for his album art, Chris Koelle makes his first musical contribution here, and we’re all the better for it. He presents a work for solo banjo that mirrors his visual work; stark and precise, but bursting with emotion. Koelle shows a working knowledge of the giants that came before him, and yet eschews standing on their shoulders and takes his own path into the sun. Brad Rose, king of the Digitalis records empire, serves as a godfather to this project, bringing all these disparate musicians together in a cacophonous harmony. His contribution draws from his extensive back catalog under his Charlatan and North Sea monikers. Here he brings to the table dance music for theoretical physicists, a gurgling creak of four on the floor like you've never heard before.
