"Over the course of the last decade, Messrs. Russell Walker and Daniel Melchior have collaborated under the guise of THE LLOYD PACK. While much ink has been spilled about their work apart from each other [DAS MENACE, THE PHEROMOANS, countless solo dispatches], their conjoined effort has a bit of a cloaked rep. Perhaps it’s their insistence on bucking genre constraints that thickens the shroud, as their lone commitment lies in coaxing each other’s instincts into wondrous tracks. I Can’t Remember, the latest assemblage of said tracks, imparts bright buzz with a decidedly late-night air. An odd bit of cynical groove runs throughout, all the way to sunrise. "The finest moments of The Lloyd Pack essentially equate Russ and Dan completing each other’s sentences, relating and reacting on equal terms. I Can’t Remember is replete with such moments. Many of the entries begin with simple rhythm programming as bedrock, expanding through all manner of pile- on riffing. The waltzing, madcap “Pagsy” shoves several recognizable tenants of classic UK-DIY pop into the circus tent. The romantic escapism that feeds “The Firs Hotel” eventually concludes as mere routine. “Crossroads Mason Simulator” acts as centerpiece, undeniable with its gorgeous lights-off sound, recalling a lost entry from After The Heat. Every tune offers surprise and something to cling to. "Digital Regress is pleased to present I Can’t Remember, the fifth LP from The Lloyd Pack." - Mitch Cardwell RIYL: Bobby Would, The Rebel, The Shadow Ring, Nathan Roche, Itchy Bugger

***THE LLOYD PACK is a project band of transplanted Englishman DAN MELCHIOR. This release follows the full length At Home With The Lloyd Pack (L'Espirit D'lescalier 2013) and the Know Your Lloyd Pack 7” (Siltbreeze 2012). The Lloyd Pack A Tribute initially emerged from a conversation Melchior had with GRAHAM LAMBKIN (SHADOW RING, Kye Records) about the prospect of doing a “Faux African” record. For two British-expats living in the U.S. in the twenty-first century, this LP offers a peculiarly whimsical variation on the “Faux African,” infusing lo-fi tribal rhythms with post-punk dance in the spirit of early Adam Ant, Fun Boy Three and the Fall. If one were to imagine adding Ivor Cutler to this British-mix, it might approach what Melchior delivers on this LP. And for the record, Cutler is a Scot. Lambkin offered some vocal components, alongside a large cast (including the late LETHA-RODMAN MELCHIOR, ANGELA SAWYER aka PREGGY PEGGY, GNARLOS, NICKE HENNIES, LE ANN BACA BARTLETT, and JOHNNY BREWTON), all of whom chimed in on the recording process.

Captains log, stardate 10.3.12: The Lloyd Pack 7" ep is finally realized. We had picked up a distress signal some weeks back, the call letters unclear, but seemingly emitted from a slow & hostile planet known only as URP. The data transcribed mentioned project (Lloyd Pack), title, (Know Your Lloyd Pack), participants (Russell Walker, Letha Rodman Melchior, Dan Melchior) & facilitator (Siltbreeze). Upon listening to contents, our forward team-though eager albeit without much depth-quickly attempted a single comparison to former Siltbreeze inhabitants, the Shadow Ring regarding sound & style. However, Chief Science Officer Roland Woodbe dismissed this as naive & noted the possibility of an Excalbian conspiracy in such a hasty summation. Woodbe elaborated a deeper analogy, finding in his historical dissection hints to century old former galactic explorers such as Collective Horizontal, 49 Americans & No Half Measures (for example). When presented with the compositions of Lloyd Pack myself I found CSO Woodbe's comprehension to be most evolved. That said, the 'Know Your Lloyd Pack' ep occupies it's own unique aural atmosphere too. It's drollery is of the highest Anglo-Saxon order, it's ambience as crisp as a Gloustershire perry. Overall I have found it's essence most logical and as any species this side of 40 Eradani A is aware, with only 300 pressed, it's shelf life is surely not long for the galaxy. A portion of all sales will go to the Letha Rodman Melchior Cancer Fund*. Peace and Prosper to all. Sincerely, Tiberius Surak Starfleet Commander. Track Listing;...
