***Here's a fun fact: LYNDA MANDOLYN, lead singer and songwriter of San Francisco band SORRYEVERAFTER was inducted into the Detroit Hall of Fame at the age of 23. So it makes perfect sense that she would return to the city of her birth and tap long-time Detroit friends (and psych rock idols) MEDUSA CYCLONE for a split seven-inch. SorryEverAfter's two contributions, "Dim" and "Blueyes," shift the band's gears as they move away from the structured power pop of their successfully received EP Meet Us When the Lights Go Low and explore darker, more ominous tones. Layered guitars, shimmering vocals, and driving back beat are all still here. But the sinister nature of life and how to live it reveals itself within the body of these songs and such revelations never sounded so good. KEIR MCDONALD of Medusa Cyclone breathes life into his songs with the desperation and the inspiration of Detroit -- a metropolitan wind to one's back. On some days the inertia feels just right, the perfect tempo to keep moving. And at other times, whispers declare it's time to leave, to just keep moving -- the cruel joke that provides the captivating balance of Medusa Cyclone's music, expansive in sound and gritty by choice. Pressed on blue vinyl. Includes a download with bonus tracks (seven total).
