***Following an EP and several singles, Brooklyn-based punk band Shop Talk delivers a full-length album. The band's self-titled LP was recorded in Nashville with Stiff Little Fingers tech / Sleeveens bassist James Mechan behind the boards. The LP is the product of an immersive five-day session at Mechan's residential studio, and it harnesses the power of Shop Talk's live show with minimal overdubs. It's a snapshot of this hardworking New York group on the heels of their summer tour, and half-delirious in the Tennessee heat. These songs have the emotional intensity of a fever dream—partly because Mechan and the band were running moderate-grade fevers during tracking. Listen well, but don't get too close. Recommended for fans of: X, The Adverts, Nick Cave, The Pretenders, The Damned, etc.

***Shop Talk is a Brooklyn-based punk band whose spirit harkens back to first-wave acts like X and The Adverts. Shop Talk’s sound is “anthemic and addictive, but dark and dreary, like London and pre-hardcore LA mingling somewhere mysterious” (MRR). The band’s new 7-inch was produced by Jeff Berner (Psychic TV, Shilpa Ray), and it’s their first to feature Angie Boylan (Sleater-Kinney, Marissa Paternoster Band) on drums. The title track and cover art take inspiration from an NYC institution, and its pervasive ad campaign.
