***BACK IN STOCK!!! A 20th anniversary reissue of SILVER JEWS' Amerian Water. Even as an unapologetic anti-metallite, I still can’t escape the call of this band’s silvery gleam. Still pleasant, still clever, still all the good-great pop action DAVID BERMAN and STEPHEN MALKMUS can dream up o’er the course of an album’s time. Twelve chuckle-along songs hitting red on your geekest hip-o-meter. Vinyl version half-speed remastered at Abbey Road. Received a 9.4 rating from Pitchfork.

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Received a 7.1 rating from Pitchfork. A collection of the early music of SILVER JEWS back in print for the first time in forever. Early Times contains all the tracks from the band’s Dime Map of the Reef 7-inch and The Arizona Record 12-inch, documenting the telepathic counter-intuition between DAVID BERMAN, STEPHEN MALKMUS and BOBBY NASTANOVICH, who went into such specific different directions later in life. “Trillion Story Walkup” aficionados and apologists know that there’s loads more from these muddy wells, enough so that Drag City might well get around to another dose, another couple sides of Silver Jews early times before too long.

***BACK IN STOCK!!! All a-sweat and working hard, rumbling with terror and humility like old Johnny Cash, DAVID BERMAN is once again our tour guide into the void, pointing out spots whre some dreams died and other candy-colored conceits were conceived. Joined by CASSIE BERMAN, TONY CROW, BRIAN KOTZUR, PEYTON PINKERTON and WILLIAM TYLER, Berman delivers a fine sixth album.

BACK IN STOCK!!! The first studio full-length from David Berman’s Silver Jews’ project, 1994’s Starlite Walker found the Virginia native’s poetry paired with languid, lived-in instrumentation provided largely by his friends in Pavement: Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich, and Steve West. The loose experimentalism that marked Berman’s earlier recordings is still there in parts (a certain attraction to the budding minds in Animal Collective, teenagers at the time of its release) but the songwriting here is a genuine wonder, an early page in what has become one of indie-rock’s most cherished songbooks.
