***Melding lo-fi punk with early new wave and self-effacing absurdity, this initial effort from Green Bay's Smart Shoppers treads an unlikely middle ground between the Crucifucks and the B-52's. Songs are kept short to align with modern attention spans. Includes Rev. Nørb (Boris The Sprinkler, MRR, Razorcake) to thrill the world's eight remaining pop-punk enthusiasts, and Joe from the Last Sons of Krypton to capture that lucrative '90s garage punk market. ***The sophomore effort from Green Bay's clown princes of dorkwave adds a further level of muscle behind their punk/new wave outbursts, and also finds the band admitting that they have listened to Cars, Dickies, and Wire records of their own free will. Occasionally at the same time! If you can figure out what disease this is, they'll probably name it after you. Shop Smarter! 2023 release.

***Green Bay's dorkwave kings bring all their guns to bear on this punk/new wave opus, singing sixteen or so Smart Shoppers songs all starting with the letter “S.” Sibilance is really popular in Wisconsin, what can we say? It's not exactly like Pee Wee Herman fronting the Gang of Four, but it's probably as close as anyone needs to get to that. And, while the Misfits pastiche on the cover may be what initially grabs the consumer by the eyeball, the fact that the band is posing in front of a Red Owl grocery store should indicate that things are not what they seem.
