***Contrary to the title, GET DEAD’s latest full-length Honesty Lives Elsewhere, is one of the most honest albums you’ll ever find. No shtick. No posturing. Just straight up, from the heart, punk rock. With multiple releases under their collective belt, Get Dead have really honed their trademark blend of raw punk and acoustic folk into a seamless style that feels completely natural. Once again Get Dead teamed up with FAT MIKE (NOFX) as a producer and with Honesty’s ear-pleasing melodies the results are obvious. The lyrics and temper of Honesty Lives Elsewhere are instantly relatable, drawing on the experiences and tribulations of scraping through the day to day. Of course, SAM’s gritty delivery packs its normal punch, wrenching the listener right into the irresistible fire. From start to finish Honesty Lives Elsewhere is an engaging experience that restores faith in genuine punk rock. LP includes a download.

***THE ICARUS LINE's third full-length release for Agitated (their eigth album in total), following on from their imperious return to the fray in 2013 with the much lauded release of Slave Vows, followed up by its companion album release Avowed Slavery in 2014. Recorded and arranged live as a group in Cardamone's studio, Valley Recording Company in Burbank. The album features a guest appearance from legendary outsider artist Joe Coleman who helped coin the album title. Also appearing is Bad Seed / Grinderman/ Dirty Three band leader Warren Ellis who helped pen the track "Bedlam Blue" with Cardamone. All Things Under Heaven packs the kind of swagger, raunch & ascent that would make Iggy Stooge and Sun Ra proud parents. It is a record that expands the vocabulary of what rock music can be without sacrificing the critical spirit that makes it Rock N Roll. The Icarus Line have summoned up the demons from the past, paid their homage and taken the sound in an entirely new direction; because this band are never ones to be caught on their knees. The album is a sprawling sonic landscape that has a timeless quality about it as it traverses between low valleys, towering skyscrapers and all the dirty alleyways that connect them. It's a record that's as sprawling as the city of Los Angeles to which The Icarus Line have always called home. It's a fuck you to the bite size society that has become music consumption. Life is bigger...

***NAGAMATZU were the British duo of ANDREW LAGOWSKI (SETI, LEGiON, TERROR AGAINST TERROR) on synths, guitar, and programming and STEPHEN JARVIS (PURE MOTORISED INSTINCT, TERRAFORM) on synths and bass. Formed in 1982 after messing around with old tape machines and drum boxes, making numerous contributions to international compilations and erratically releasing their own cassettes. Their name comes from a character in JG Ballard‘s Atrocity Exhibition and their music reflects his influence. Nagamatzu self-released their debut cassette Shatter Days in 1983 after messing around with old tape machines, drum boxes and effects. Above This Noise is a compilation of nine songs recorded in the period between the release of Sacred Islands of the Mad in 1986 and Igniting the Corpse in 1991. It gathers tracks which surfaced on some of the international compilation cassette releases that the band were invited to contribute to in the 1980s as well as some previously unreleased songs. The band’s working method was for Andrew to first record a backing track, usually rhythm, sequence, samples. Then both members would layer more electronics, samples, guitar and bass over the top, recording the whole piece in one take. These instrumentals combine stuttering bass, guitar bursts and funeral keyboards draped over a dragging drum machine beat, calling to mind Clock DVA, early New Order or Cocteau Twins. Their sound is full of complex rhythm patterns and dark electronics. All songs have been remastered from the original tapes for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl...

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Received an 8.0 rating from Pitchfork. Back in 1983, Athens, GA legends PYLON had just released Chomp, their second album and toured the country extensively, and played several opening slots for then up-and-comers, U2. Without a hint of explanation, they suddenly quit. This is their final show at the Mad Hatter in Athens, full of a frenzy of minimal disco thud, post-punk guitar scree and deliriously inspired howl. There’s little arguing that the Athens powerhouse trifecta of R.E.M., the B-52’s, and Pylon is peerless. While all three bands have achieved great critical acclaim, only the first two had the commercial acclaim they deserved. Pylon Live intends to correct that. “RANDY BEWLEY & MICHAEL LACHOWKI's simple lines display untoward rhythm & melody, respectively. CURTIS CROWE bangs away so obdurately it’s hard to understand why he didn’t become rich. VANESSA BRISCOE HAY barks & brays whatever incantatory phrases seem called for. Timeless. ***This album isn't centuries in the making. It just feels like it. In reality, the first full-length album from JAMES ARTHUR'S MANHUNTt since 2010's Manhunt (Aarght!) is a crazed, yet shockingly coherent career highlight for a guy whose excursions into guitar chaos in a variety of guises/cities would've incapacitated lesser men. Or women. In fact, I think it has incapacitated lesser men and women, but enough about the audience. For those who don't know, guitarist/vocalist James Arthur has marked his territory in places as far flung as Brisbane, Memphis and Austin, TX. It's been in the Texas capitol where he's taken hard life-lessons from tenures in such legendary outfits as THE NECESSARY EVILS, C.C. RIDERS,, AAAA MEMPHIS LEGS, BEGUILED, REATARDS, A FEST OF SNAKES, FIREWORKS and THE GOLDEN BOYS... and ignored all of 'em, instead vomiting into the face of adulthood with a decidedly volatile red-white-and-boo-fucking-hoo take on what some people like to call "space rock". What would Hawkwind sound like if you owed them money (or they were locked out of the house?). Let's hope we never find out. All kidding aside, after one LP and a succession of singles for the In The Red, Goodbye Boozy, Perpetrator and Spacecase labels, James was somehow able to RECORD THE UNRECORDABLE. Under the technical supervision of STUART SIKES (who as an actual Grammy Award (TM) winner really ought to know better), and bolstered by Texas conspirators including BRYAN SCHMITZ (the Golden Boys), ORVILLE NEELEY (OBN III's, BAD SPORTS) and SEAN MORALES...

***The second Discos Mas release from LOS DADDYS—a Cumbia Sonidera band from Puebla, Mexico near the capital, Mexico City. Los Daddy's sound is very approachable to the uninitiated listener but to gain a full appreciation for Cumbia Sonidera one must familiarize themselves with the origins of sonidero (DJ) sound system culture and Cumbia Rebajada, which literally means "slowed cumbia". As the Sonideros (DJs) slowed the tempos of the fast Colombian Cumbión music, the pitch went down with it, resulting in a heavier, deeper bass sound. The reinterpretation of these classic tunes in a slow and low fashion is what gives the Cumbia Sonidera and Los Daddys their distinctive sound and dance floor appeal. Pressed on blue swirl vinyl.

"Don't try to fight it," the band's motto implores, "Salem's Pot has come to destroy your mind." It's the same kind of winking tease employed by low budget horror films of the 70s-80s that essentially dared audiences to experience what they knew they wanted, but couldn't possibly expect. Likewise, the new album by mysterious Swedish quintet Salem's Pot delivers truly gritty and captivating heavy rock in high contrast technicolor: a sonic equivalent of The Last House On The Left, El Topo and Blood Feast. Similar to the way such films made up for their lack of flashy, expensive effects with dim lighting and implied violence, a hallucinogenic sense of true evil lurks in the dark corners of Salem's Pot's sound. Lest we forget, the band's name itself is a pun on Stephen King's stark, modernized vampire masterpiece. Double vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, fourth side is an etching.

***On the tail of their third LP Bad Luck Charms, the latest buzzsaw guitar-rock barrage from TV FREAKS delivers two new essential cuts on March 11, 2016. Following a clutch of releases they’ve come home to Hamilton, ON’s long-running Schizophrenic Records. Recorded to eight-track in a single night, this two-song 7” reveals the band painting their typical wide-reaching emotional palette, or lackthereof. “D.Y.O.T.” is an epic mid-tempo jam, pulling sonic cues from anything and everything without compromise, seemingly less concerned with “punk” as a sound while still inevitably being just that. The flip side on the other hand is that, a frothing-at-the-mouth garage-punk burner more in line with something off the Rip Off Records catalogue of past. One of Canada’s best punk bands show off their range while continuing, as always, to do their own thing. Limited to 500 copies, all housed in a beautifully screen-printed die-cut sleeve.

After crystallizing a reputation for confrontational live performances and releasing their essential debut LP, Suicide went into the studio to record their stunning follow-up. Producer Ric Ocasek lends a pop sensibility to the band's sound, constructing an atmosphere at once light and catchy, yet still crazed and venomous. Originally released in 1980 on ZE Records, Alan Vega Martin Rev features an array of glistening keyboards and early preset rhythm machine sounds whose harsh simplicity suggests the discreet zones and confined movements of urban life. While his vocal treatments are more refined than before, Alan Vega is still cool as ice, visceral and evocative. Superior Viaduct is honored to present Suicide's under-appreciated second album. For the first time since its initial release 35+ years ago, this vinyl release includes the original track list and artwork. If there can be a quintessential New York band, it is without a doubt Suicide.

As a part of the early independent music movement, PoL occupies a special niche in electronic, experimental and ambient genres. Following recent vinyl reissues of his 1983 Palace of Lights cassette, Music Works for Industry, and a compilation of early cassette tracks on VOD’s acclaimed American Cassette Culture, PoL has reissued Marc Barreca’s first album for the label, the 1980 release Twilight, as part of an ongoing program of documenting the roots of the Pacific Northwest independent impulse. This remastered + expanded edition includes one previously unreleased track on the vinyl LP and an additional six bonus tracks in the digital version. The album insert includes an essay by Steve Peters. Following the RVNG reissues of A Period Of Review (ranked the #7 reissue of 2014 by The Wire) and Artificial Dance (ranked the #2 reissue of 2015 by The Wire), Closed System Potentials, recorded in 1979 and originally released in 1980, finds its way back to CD. In their review of A Period of Review, Pitchfork said, “These pieces most closely evoke the work of Roedelius and Moebius in Cluster: meditative, wistful, lovely, giving off gentle glimmers of light. In trying to think if the closest American corollary for this set, the possibility emerges that Kerry Leimer is one of the lone examples of American kosmische music, that elegant hybrid that falls somewhere between the Velvets-style mesmerism of Can in the early ’70s and the placid tones of new age music that arose in the next decade. It’s a sound that applies to mid-’70s Cluster, Ash Ra Tempel, Popul Vuh, the second side of Kraftwerk’s Autobahn, and others.”K. Leimer founded the Palace of Lights label in 1979. Leimer’s early work was reissued by Autumn and RVNG in 2014 and 2015, and his early cassette work is in the critically acclaimed Vinyl On Demand box set American Cassette Culture. He has been actively producing music since the mid 1970s— his current catalog includes 16 still-in-print albums plus two collaborative albums with Marc Barreca.Leimer’s work is included in the collection of The British Library.

Connections came out of Columbus, Ohio, at a rush, releasing two stellar LPs and several singles in their first year. They felt like the wind rushing through the open window of a car hurtling down the highway at 90 MPH. In the second year, they firmed up their sound and shook off some of the bedroom-lo-fi-Oh (as in Oh-hi-O) for the almost radio-friendly Into Sixes, which earned the band continued praise in Pitchfork, AVClub, Stereogum and more. And like the previous two records, Into Sixes wound up on a plethora of “Best Of” lists (Village Voice, Still Single, etc.) as well as on the pages of ESPN. They took a year off to record a single for Chicago’s tasty HoZac label and a play handful of shows including several sold-out NYC dates. Midnight Run kicks the murk of basement four-track recordings from the soles of the five members’ collective shoes with the sound of two guitars that growl as if they are echoing out of the propellers of a B-12 bomber. After the gentle hiss for the opener “Raise Awareness,” which echoes the early power pop of the Shoes or Cars played through a 1987 Mustang’s tape-deck, “Month to Month” shatters the windshield as singers Kevin Elliott and Andy Hampel stand atop the chorus like they just conquered a Two-for-Tuesday slot on your local classic rock station. From there, the record rolls over the speakers with a great band getting greater, flexing sinewy guitar with Hampel’s and...

Employing heavy washes of bass and a deft touch in mixing, she uses stark contrasts to construct a semi-surreal aural space. If you were a certain type of music fan in the mid-’90s, you may have heard tell of an incredible, incredibly hard-to-find double-album by The Garbage & The Flowers, Eyes Rind As If Beggars. Each jacket was hand-painted, and all 300 copies sold out in a flash. Thankfully, the great Bo’Weavil label reissued it in 2013. If you haven’t heard it, please do listen…OK, you heard it now? You’re welcome! The group was Helen Johnstone, Yuri Frusin and Paul Yates—an inspired trio who emphasized lyrical collaboration and sound manipulation as part and parcel to their melodies. They didn’t last long as a group, but luckily, they got a lot of their songs recorded. The Deep Niche is music they made before Eyes Rind and it is every bit as revelatory. Johnstone sings over raucous and raw instrumentation. It’s real rock, the real real thing. Torben Tilly joined just in time to contribute some keyboard to the track “29 Years,” although he mostly was their guitarist. Just in time, too, because The Deep Niche presents a band fresh to playing with some massive tools—The Tools Of Rock, natch. These songs are every bit as powerful as what you hear on Eyes Rind As If Beggars. Believe it.

Heaven For Real has been fine-tuning their distinct approach to songwriting since 2012. Kill Your Memory, their Mint debut, is a collection of songs brimming with their idiosyncratic brand of maximalist pop music. Equally enamoured with undeniable melodic hooks as they are with unconventional sounds, Heaven For Real emerges as fully formed left-field masters with the unique ability to turn directions on a dime. Fraternal twin songwriters Mark and Scott Grundy (Quaker Parents / Monomyth), in tandem with rhythmic partners Cheryl Hann (Old and Weird / Picnicface) and Nathan Doucet (ex-Crosss), spent two years developing their personal musical language. The result of overnight sessions at their local studio (Echo Chamber Audio) and much tinkering out of their Halifax homes, Kill Your Memory marries poetic lyrical narratives with a special blend of experimental rock n’ roll. The album incorporates the adventurousness of jazz and nervous post-punk energy with ornamental touches of tape collage and electronics. Brian Eno would be proud. The album begins with “Subliminal,” a perfect summation of the band’s creative process. As the music trapezes effortlessly between harmony and dissonance, it mixes the inventive spirit of Os Mutantes and the child-like playfulness of the Elephant Six Collective. Throughout the song, the brothers spur each other on to greater heights as each tries to best the other, posing pointed questions as part of the endless march toward self-perfection. Title track “Kill Your Memory” serves as the record’s skeleton key. Nervy and lumbering guitar strides until the chorus demands the listener...

With their sophomore album Stranger To Violence, Psalm Zero takes the aesthetics, poetics, and spirit established on their 2014 debut The Drain, and blows up those elements into an epic work of wide-screen drama. It has been two years since that debut, and, in the interim, a series of video and cassette singles called the Birthright Trilogy has built up anticipation for songwriter / vocalist / producer Charlie Looker’s next release. Based in Queens, New York, Psalm Zero provides pummeling drum machine, swirling synths, razor-sharp guitar (courtesy of former member Andrew Hock), and grinding bass as a backdrop for Looker’s crooning baritone voice. Psalm Zero’s unique brand of art-metal has been compared to Godflesh, Katatonia, and Depeche Mode. While Stranger To Violence retains Psalm Zero’s extreme roots, the soaring choruses and massive pop hooks on these seven songs are more emotionally direct than any of the band’s previous work. Harsh vocals are less frequent and reserved for the highest ecstatic peaks. The production style has evolved dramatically as well—in contrast to the band’s original murkier, more lo-fi texture, this album delivers a far crisper, more detailed landscape of synths, samples, and percussive electronics. Psalm Zero has also expanded lyrically, with Looker moving beyond the personal and existential into a more social, global, real-world critical engagement. The new record is tied together by several themes: drug addiction, global financial crisis, Western imperialism, and Jewish identity. The single “Not Guilty” features a video directed by Zev Deans (whose many other credits...

***THE CRAMPS live at New York's Club 57 on August 18th, 1979. These larger than life figures graced the stage of New York's legendary Club 57, standing on the brink of a wider stage, namely the world. The Cramps quickly became one of America's finest subculture manifestations, bred from the madness of '50s and '60s B-movie trash at the turn of punk, LUX INTERIOR and his motley crew of proto-gothic punks tear off heads with a slew of Dick Dale and Sonics salutes amidst sordid contortions. Above all, The Cramps were a live band, a cabaret of B-movie histrionics and debonair, pursuing a lurid sexual gratification. Lux Interior in particular, personified, and externalized what lurked behind the snarl of every rockabilly hero. ***Brazil's RAKTA is back with six new powerfully feminine trips through the fog. Simultaneously claustrophobic and cavernous. You can feel pulsing bass and thundering battery intertwine, akin to a snake coiling around your leg, pulling you down into the murky vortex. A flourish of atmospheric keyboard and vocal clamor pulls you right back to the surface just in time to be sucker punched by silence. This garland will leave you reeling. Art by MATEUS MONDINI. Sounds by BERNARDO PACHECHO. Mastered by DANIEL HUSSAYN. Edition of 500 copies on black vinyl housed in a heavy duty sleeves.

Contrary to the band's name, downtime is a rarity for Slow Season. Sandwiched between summer 2015's extensive tour with their RidingEasy labelmates Mondo Drag and Electric Citizen, plus several short west coast jaunts, the hard-working quartet also found time to hammer out its most powerful and ambitious album yet. Written, engineered, produced and mixed themselves on their own equipment, entirely on analog tape, Westing is a hard-hitting and powerful reminder of how at one time a rock 'n' roll band could be a transcendent experience.

***A Band Is Something To Figure Out is the fifth full length album from American rock band HALLELUJAH THE HILLS. It was recorded approximately 10 years to the day of their first rehearsal. Their last album, 2014's Have You Ever Done Something Evil? was named the #1 Overlooked Album of the Year by PopMatters and landed the band on over a dozen year end best of lists. With the new album, they have released their defining statement—an ambitious, wild set of songs unlike anything the band has done before. The band have released albums on Misra Records, worked with everyone from Titus Andronicus to Marissa Nadler, and have been called “Boston legends” by The Boston Globe.

***A slightly altered reissue of the 1977 House On Chester Road EP from UK punks CHARLIE 'UNGRY. Leveling off their enthusiasm for a wider variety of sounds than most of their contemporaries, the band grasped a serious metallic sound right out of the gate, as their signature song “Who Is My Killer?” rips through the speakers in a NWOBHM style that’s undeniable. However, their glammy Slade-like rhythms and break-neck speed signaled a very punkish angle, reflecting the energy and nihilism of the exploding punk phenomenon, and their unique interplay between song styles, even mid-song as in “Who Is My Killer?” had an incredible effect, yet it was sadly underexposed. In retrospect, most truly innovative bands trying something new have had a cold response in general, par for the course in the case of Charlie ‘Ungry as well, with their incredible fusion of British metal guitar, pulse-pounding glam vocals, and white-knuckle punk rock delivery. Most simpletons just couldn’t get their heads wrapped around it. Features "Who Is My Killer?," backed with a song interchanged with an incredible, first-time-on-vinyl track. Edition of 500 copies on black vinyl.

***We are proud to present yet another incredible pop band that seems to have eluded the masses but is a strong contender for the crown of that genre without even being challenged. THE JEANIES are a NYC anomaly, yet even with such good company such as Games and 1-800 Band they are still very much under the radar for most pop fans, so it’s with great pleasure to welcome this bunch of young upstarts into the fold, as once their sound soaks in, you won’t be pulling yourself out of it’s clenches any time soon. As a band that could easily confuse you upon first listen as to it’s year of origin, The Jeanies burst out last year with a self-titled LP & tape release that took most folks by surprise, an unrestrained, powerful and familiar tone stretched perfectly across a collection of songs that were instantly addictive, incredibly intricate, and possessed devastatingly perfect details, linking these songs to the echoes of the past they encapsulate so well. As a band with little connection to the veteran cognoscenti of the underground pop consortium, The Jeanies are a refreshing blast of pop purity, combining the greatest nuances of the old wave into a rock-solid foundation of what’s next. Edition of 300 copies on black vinyl.
