Known for his home recorded (and often home made) cassette albums, Newell carved out a legacy as the godfather of indie pop inspiring generations of fans and two documentaries in recent years. Newell earned reputation and acclaim by capturing kitchen sink drama and earnest tales via the lo-fi jingle jangle of inspiration and spontaneity.
