100% Unknown Fibers: Odd-Lots by V/a

100% Unknown Fibers: Odd-Lots
Coq Au Vinyl

***A "fan club" reissue of a hyper rare bootleg called 100% Unknown Fibers: Odd Lots, which is itself a document of the Laguna Beach Happening concert from Christmas Day December 25, 1970. This was a festival organized by the Brotherhood of Eternal Love (aka the "Hippie Mafia") who you might know from the book or documentary "Orange Sunshine". they were the biggest suppliers of high potency LSD in the world and they put on this concert as a sort of "West Coast Woodstock" and they even flew a plane over the crowd and dropped Christmas cards containing tabs of acid on the crowd! The music is several psych/blues rock/ acid folk bands unknowns and its a pretty solid audience recording with lots of in-between song rants and announcements. Really a wild listen! This reissue has a new handmade cover including a stamped patch of acid blotter paper and is limited to 300 copies!"Completely preposterous 'fan club' reissue of what was unauthorized to begin with: live documentation of unknown bands playing a Christmas day festival organized by the Brotherhood of Eternal Love Hippie Mafia. Crude lo-fi biker rock, Hendrixian blow outs, scuzz blues, elongated Cream-y jams, and earnest folk, interspersed with on-stage rants from assorted wasteoids, Black Panthers, and maniacs. Fantastic paste-on packaging complete with insert, stamped number (out of 300), and blotter acid (ask in an hour if it's real). If you know what you're getting into you will have zero regrets."—The Philly Record Exchange

***"Bonjour! We at Coq Au Vinyl are very happy to present to you the first reissue of rare LP by the extraordinary and virtually UNKNOWN American rhythm and blues ensemble GEE GEE DECORATOR. Released (we think?) in late 70’s or early 80’s in Newark, NJ, the GEE GEE DECORATOR LP answers our questions What if Pussy Galore jam with ESG? What if Harry Pussy get funky? What if Dead C record LP with Sharon Jones? Copies of this vinyl LP rarely turn up over the years, even among hardcore collectors of SERIOUS Waxidermical artifacts of funk, gospel, disco, boogie, R&B etc. We find our copy in 2002 while visiting set of 'Sopranos' while our college roommate Jean-Hugues Anglade guest stars in episode where he steals money from Artie Buco. Artie’s restaurant is in same building as recording studio listed on LP label (Record Thing Studio, 95 Halsey St, Newark, NJ) We mainly go to try to meet episode director Steve Buscemi but end up just going through boxes of old vinyl in basement of Artie’s restaurant with actor who play Furio (he’s a big dancehall guy). I take copy of GEE GEE DECORATOR hoping to pass it off as 'funky GG Allin' to dumb dumbs at Utrecht Fair but upon hearing pummeling trash can drums, frenetic tuneless guitar and word 'FUCK' within 10 seconds of dropping needle and I am HOOKED like Christopher Moltisanti and his heroin! Please enjoy! First Pressing Edition of 313 copies on 140g black vinyl in black...

Zero Tolerance For Silence by Metheny, Pat

Zero Tolerance For Silence
Coq Au Vinyl

***We at Coq Au Vinyl are proud to present for first time on the vinyl format Zero Tolerance For Silence by legendary American jazz guitarist Pat Metheny! Previously only issued on the compact disc format in the year 1994, the album is often described as the jazz equivalent to Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music". To say ZTFS was "a departure" for Metheny is like saying "Jaco Pastorius liked cognac." Loud, dissonant layers of electric guitars and overdriven amplifiers were in stark contrast to the smooth melodic guitar jazz Metheny had built his fanbase and legend upon. At the time, some theorized that this was Metheny's "fuck you" to his label Geffen and perhaps a way of purposely ending his contract on a sour note. Others close to Metheny disputed those claims and instead describe the album as a pure expression of sounds Metheny had dreamt of making for some time. Metheny himself in 2008 said of the album, "That record speaks for itself in its own musical terms. To me, it is a 2-D view of a world in which I am usually functioning in a more 3-D way. It is entirely flat music, and that was exactly what it was intended to be." While generally panned by critics at the time as "unlistenable", once the album made its way to the ears of listeners less ::ahem:: discernible than the typical Downbeat subscriber, it was widely hailed as a masterpiece of free improvisation.
