***Discos Mas kicks off 2023 with a BANGER from LOS DISCO DURO with this roboticized double A sider featuring a pair of cover songs that are sure to resonate on the dance floor. Many will recognize the Tito Puente composition “Oye Como Va” from the many versions including perhaps the most popular by Carlos Santana. This version heavily references the original arrangement, replacing the horns with interwoven resonant synth lines and vocoder vocals. The A side‘s “La Inconforme” is a newer song, well known in sonidero circles and will soon be a staple in DJ sets around the world.

***Discos Más is starting off strong in 2022 with a couple of absolute bangers from the Los Daddys archive pressed for the first time on vinyl. “Cumbia Kairo” is an upbeat instrumental with an almost nursery rhyme intro that quickly loses all innocence as soon as the bass drops. Los Daddys boss Chucho Ponce showcases his wide range of influences on the B-side with a cumbia reworking of the Robert Miles Italo trance anthem “Children”. The result is absolutely stunning.

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Combo Tezeta began in early 2018 but in that short time have established a solid footing in the Bay Area’s live cumbia scene playing shows all the way up the wast coast. While the Oakland based sextet doesn’t consider themselves chicha, these surf band veterans deliver a nostalgic guitar driven instrumental cumbia experience that might cause ayahuasca flashbacks in certain people. For their first vinyl endeavor, they teamed up with Discos Más to put forth a 7 inch with a driving cumbia about a dancing chameleon on the A-side and a laid back psychedelic bolero on the flip.

***AVAILABLE AGAIN!!! LOS DISCO DURO strike again with their modern rendition of the Mon Rivera mambo classic "Lluvia con Nieve," a song about wet snow or rain with snow. Either way this trombone led vocoder vocal rendition has the potential for danger on the dance floor. The b-side is a retro electro vocoder rap about a well known and much feared disciplinary tool among Latina moms..."La Chankla" or the sandal. When hurled with precision targeting, "La Chankla" is an effective punishment and deterrent to keep misbehaving children in line.

***San Francisco’s number one Cumbia-peddler Discos Mas proudly presents the debut 7-inch from PANCRUDO! Pancrudo's catchy, vintage-oozing tunes form a rare and lyrical tribute to working class South and Latin Americans all over the world; their dreams, hopes and realities. Using old drum machines and twangy, fuzzed-out guitars, Pancrudo's music is inspired by early Santana recordings, Surf Rock, Chicha, Cumbia and various electronic fringe-genres. This is the music that blares out of the dusty radio at the local kiosco, that you'll hear at a party or at work, when drinking out back or smoking a cigarette on the corner, cursing the dud lottery scratcher that was supposed to change everything, or at least pay back what you owe.

***The second Discos Mas release from LOS DADDYS—a Cumbia Sonidera band from Puebla, Mexico near the capital, Mexico City. Los Daddy's sound is very approachable to the uninitiated listener but to gain a full appreciation for Cumbia Sonidera one must familiarize themselves with the origins of sonidero (DJ) sound system culture and Cumbia Rebajada, which literally means "slowed cumbia". As the Sonideros (DJs) slowed the tempos of the fast Colombian Cumbión music, the pitch went down with it, resulting in a heavier, deeper bass sound. The reinterpretation of these classic tunes in a slow and low fashion is what gives the Cumbia Sonidera and Los Daddys their distinctive sound and dance floor appeal. Pressed on blue swirl vinyl.
