***Absolutely stunning debut single from these two young song smiths from Hull! Both songs are transcendentally great slices of DIY pop. While sonically this could easily pass a blind taste test as a contemporary band if played next to your O Levels or Scrotum Poles, it still manages to sound completely fresh and timeless. I'm not sure where Syd Barret lived but judging from the sound of the LURES he may have fathered an illegitimate son or two in Hull. This is one that will appeal equally to fans of indie pop, powerpop, punk, pop psych, and just catchy songs in general. A modern classic if ever there was one. Limited pressing of 250 copies.

***Debut single from this singularly great Minneapolis indie pop sensation. Both songs hearken to a day when the term indie pop conjured images of the exuberant innocence of the early Go Betweens or the Vaselines rather than overly obtuse indie rock. “Sugar Band” in particular is timeless hit that will be stuck in your brain for weeks. Recommended for fans of the Pastels, Pooh Sticks, and the aforementioned bands. Limited pressing of 250 copies.
