Desert So Green by Winged Wheel

Winged Wheel

Desert So Green
12xu

***“So, how did this band even happen?” That’s the question most often asked of Winged Wheel, a creatively and geographically scattered collective who have somehow congregated to make a noise that’s unexpected but undeniable. The band includes Whitney Johnson (Matchess, Circuit des Yeux), Cory Plump (Spray Paint, co-owner of the dream venue Tubby’s), Matthew J. Rolin (solo guitar wizard and half of the Powers/Rolin Duo), Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth), Lonnie Slack, and Fred Thomas (Idle Ray, Tyvek), each player living in a different city and bringing their own unique element to the group’s chain reactions. Early long distance file-trading between a few members yielded 2022’s No Island, a debut album that was accidentally really good. Good enough for the band to expand their membership and meet in person for the sessions that became 2024’s Big Hotel, a surgically-assembled murk of high energy kosmische rock with jammed-out tendencies. Fast forward just a little and all of a sudden the band that started out as a passing idea has completed multiple tours, become a taper’s dream with sets that drift through structure and improvisation, and ridden the momentum to places unforeseen on their third album, Desert So Green. After a run of shows across the Midwest in the spring of 2025, the group settled into a studio on the outskirts of Chicago to track their next record. Though the full lineup had only been solidified for a little over a year at this point, time together on stage led to a quickly-expanding sound...

Burning Future by Arson

Arson

Burning Future
General Speech

***Burning Future is the debut EP by NYC's ARSON. Perfecting their sound and energy over the last 2 years in the way of a truly hard working band, every gig feels and sounds better than the last. This record is no exception, a marked improvement over their early demos, and one which reflects the intensity of their live performances. Stylistically comparable to bands like Extreme Noise Terror and many of the early crust bands rooted more in the hardcore end, and less of the metal end of the crust spectrum, but ARSON cranks up the noise to deafening levels. For fans of Gloom, Ferocious X, Zyanose, etc. 5 original songs and a Gloom cover.

***Dust Collector from Los Angeles have taken their time crafting a modern masterpiece. The result is 12 tracks of Disorder, Chaos UK, Gai, Swankys, and Confuse influenced noisepunk perfection. Where so many bands just crank the noise up as loud as possible, and pump out quick pogo inducing songs, Dust Collector have paid close attention to detail creating songs that are unique, memorable, have perfect production, and do justice to the bands that influenced them. Very much in the spirit of noisy bands like Lebenden Toten, Dust Collector seems to be focused on a recipe that is total quality over quantity, with no cut corners. If you are a fan of raw but catchy hardcore punk from any era, this LP has set the bar to a new height.

Visions Of Impending Death
General Speech

***Taking the power of D-Beat raw punk bands, and dialing back the noise just enough to let the emphasis fall on heavy and well-crafted, mildly Swedish inspired riffs, powerful vocals, and a rhythm section that feels like relentless megaton bomb blasts. Exactly what I want out of a band with these influences. Members of Guerra Final, Psych War, Electrika and more.

Somewhere between heaven and hell…there is Fallen Angel. Dark Entries continues its mission of shining light on a generation of composers and musicians lost to AIDS with Brandy Dalton’s Fallen Angel, his soundtrack work for the award-winning Fallen Angel series. Brandy was known for many years in the LA underground for his performances with his boyfriend, Robert Woods, who was the resident DJ at Club Fuck. Eventually, they recruited John Munt to form the band Drance, becoming infamous for their high-energy performances and songs that tackled taboo topics like sadomasochism. While Drance explored the aggressive sounds of industrial and EBM, Dalton continued to produce a wide range of electronica, from abstract sonic textures to techno bangers. The Fallen Angel album collects 16 sweaty, sticky cuts composed for the pornographic series Fallen Angel, a trio of leather-focused films released by Titan Studios. The sounds here span from the fractured cyberpunk-rave of “Swelled” to the tabla-laced trance of “FA2,” taking listeners on a journey through hedonistic recesses chock full of crunchy digital drum machines and wailing FM synths. This album was originally released on CD in 1999 by Titan Studios, capitalizing on the success of the film franchise. It will be reissued on LP as well as CD, featuring 6 bonus tracks. Artwork for the album, designed by Eloise Shir-Juen Leigh, features stills from the Fallen Angel film. Also included is an insert with liner notes and photographs. This album is dedicated to Brandy, who passed away from AIDS-related illness in 2006,...

Surge Studio Music by Taylor, Spider

Taylor, Spider

Surge Studio Music
Dark Entries

Spider Taylor crawls over to Dark Entries with Surge Studio Music, an album of archival gay pornographic soundtracks. James Allan Taylor was born into a working-class family in Los Angeles in 1951. Nicknamed “Spider” by his father due to his frantic energy, Taylor was a natural-born guitarist, gifted with perfect pitch and a voracious musical appetite. Throughout the 70s, he expanded his musical repertoire, playing in bands ranging from country to post-punk, like his outfit Red Wedding, while always looking for new sounds and styles to explore. During this period, Taylor also partnered with his soulmate and musical collaborator, Michael Ely. They were part of a wave of bold, young, gay couples living openly together in the years immediately following the Stonewall Riots. In the early 80s, while working at the West Hollywood gay sex club Basic Plumbing, Taylor met Al Parker, the legendary pornographic actor and director, who recruited Taylor to produce the soundtrack for a film he was working on. Parker’s partnership with Steve Scott running Surge Studios produced some of the most popular all-male films of the era. Spider’s music was a natural fit for Surge, and throughout 1985 and 1986, he composed the soundtracks for five films produced by the iconic studio. Assisted by engineer Steve Conrad and armed with a drum machine and some synths, Spider’s compositions for film veer from the expansive, reverb-drenched “Rainforest” to the Miami Vice-esque chugger “Tech.” While Spider thought of this work as little more than a gig, tangential to...

***Austin, Texas punk powerhouse MUJERES PODRIDAS returns to us hot off the heels of a tour of Japan with their Sangre Y Sol LP, the first we have heard from them since 2021's Muerte En Paraiso. Each release has seen the band not only honing their skill but ultimately carving out their own territory within the vast sonic terrain we're all immersed in and Sangre Y Sol is truly the pinnacle of their nearly decade journey thus far. The aural steamroller that is this ensemble aside, this record is not meant to be merely a linear punk album with one sound but rather a cohesive collection of experiences of growing up on the border of South Texas reflected by varied levels of mood and intensity. These songs are about love, violence, death. They reflect the general passion that comes from balancing the intense highs and lows of life while still being proud of the land that nourished and raised the members of this group. In short, Sangre Y Sol is meant to represent the violence and danger people face crossing the border on foot and the long journey that lies ahead navigating through a society and landscape that are often both inhospitable and harsh. Each record comes in a full package featuring an outstanding LP jacket and newspaper print poster composed by drummer Phill Gonzalez alongside illustrations by Kumi Gardner that help to convey these stories and emotions on a visual level. ***"Forget all the RHCP jokes, RHDP has no time to pay attention to anything worthlessly American like bars that don’t serve Red Horse beer. The Filipino power trio hail from Virginia Beach and for nearly 15 years have been one of the best kept secrets in the Virginia punk scene. The Red Horse Drunk Punks (or is it Red Horse Drugs Pancit these days?) look to hard rock from across the decades and world as ingredients to their drunken stew of rock. They carry the torch of bands like Annihilation Time or Motörhead with the ability to make it burn brighter taking from hometown heroes like The Juan De La Cruz Band and the Twisted Red Cross catalog. With KASKASERÖ the band lands on wax for the first time since 2016’s Silinyador EP with their best sound yet. The long awaited full length hits like a sonic punch of unrelenting guitar shredding, tight drums, belting vocals in Tagalog and the expert playing of a Filipino kubing jaw harp on 'RAK EN RÖL II HIMIG NG KUBING.' You won’t find a single song that doesn’t have you wanting to drive a Jeepney 100mph through the HRBT. Inventive and original yet from the first minute it’s clearly unadulterated RAK EN RÖL just the way it was meant to be."—Brian Baynes

Danger Zone / Elizabeth's Lover by Comateens

Comateens

Danger Zone / Elizabeth's Lover
Left For Dead

***"Back in the 1970s, women in punk bands were far outnumbered by their male counterparts, and women who wrote punk songs were even more rare. Ramona Jan formed Comateens in 1978 with Nick Dembling. She wrote, played guitar and sang on the 2 songs included on this new, deluxe reissue, which includes liner notes by both Nick and Ramona. Nick sings lead on Danger Zone, Ramona on Elizabeth’s lover (which was recorded at the same time as Danger Zone, but not previously released). She left the band shortly after the release of the Comateens single to found the more New Wave-oriented Dizzy & The Romilars (think Waitresses, B-52s, the Flirts, etc..), who recorded and released their own version of Elizabeth’s Lover. In between, Ramona produced the “Drive My Car” EP by NastyFacts (Jimboco 1981/2022 Left For Dead reissue). If you like first wave punk, pop punk and alternative music made in a time when genres were still fluid and the rules had yet to be written, you’re going to love this record!"

Left For Dead

***A 12-inch reissue of Detention’s rare, early-1980s punk/hardcore single,“Dead Rock ‘N Rollers” b/w “El Salvador” plus 7 additional songs, 4 of which are from the band’s out-of-print self-titled LP, while the others also were recorded in the early-1980s, but not released. All songs on this Mini LP or Maxi EP (take your pick) have been remastered at Enormous Door in Austin and the grooves cut at 45 RPM to achieve the highest fidelity and maximum punch. The tombstone art on the front cover of the original 45 by Jeff Jamieson has been resurrected for this release. Left For Dead

***"Hey! Here's another cool late '70s punk-era LFD release from the vaults. These guys were a popular CB's/Max's band in New York back in the day, but due to mismanagement, their major label deal offers (of which there were several) were bungled so they never released anything other than a rare single produced by Wayne Kramer of the MC5. This album was recorded by Ed Stasium (Ramones,Talking Heads) in the Sire Records basement studio in 1979. They languished for 45 years until rediscovered in the Sire Archive at the Rock 'N Roll Hall Of Fame. The songs were digitized and remixed by Bob Stander and Ed Stasium earlier this year and will be available for the first time this October. Here's your chance to grab one before they're generally available! We appreciate your past support and thank you for helping us continue this labor of love."

***Beach Impediment is honored to be reissuing a top tier USHC classic that came into being right here in Central Virginia. In the summer of 1982 when Richmond's RED CROSS came to an abrupt end, guitarist Mikey Rodriguez didn't seem to miss a beat, recruiting Crispy Cranmer, formerly of GASSE 32, on vocals to continue his vision of creating frantic, fast and ugly hardcore punk... and they did just that late one October night, sneaking into the studios of Union Theological Seminary to belt out 8 urgent and furious tracks clocking in at just over 5 minutes, immortalized on a platter compliments of local punk stalwarts Zero Degree Records later that year. What became known as the Fascist EP (a title unintended by the band that stuck per Jeff Bale's glowing review in Maximum Rock and Roll #5) spread far and wide in the months that followed, not only cementing the band's place in the annals of international hardcore punk history but also triggering a regional explosion with the genre; the fuse of which has been lit by Mikey's previous service in MOD SUBS and the aforementioned Red Cross. This is just the beginning of our long awaited reissues of the legendary WHITE CROSS—stay tuned!Remastered by Chris Corry, each record comes in a stunningly accurate reproduction sleeve featuring a never before seen band photo from when the boys opened for The Exploited, an insert with the long lost lyrics accompanied by a collage of flyers and other imagery related to...

***Having played bass in Thou Shalt Suffer, Vidar Våer was already a seminal figure in the burgeoning Norwegian black metal movement of the early 1990s. After they disbanded, and Ihsahn and Samoth began Emperor, Vidar continued recording in the same shared basement studio, adopting the alias “Ildjarn.” He self-released a series of demos between 1992 and 1994, after which he put out four full-length solo albums, as well as two EPs and two ambient albums with frequent collaborator, Nidhogg, and a single album with a band called Sort Vokter, featuring Nidhogg and two other members. (Ildjarn’s body of solo and collaborative work has been dissected and rearranged for various compilations through the years along with previously unreleased archive recordings resulting in a complicated discography.)While many of his Norwegian peers sought cleaner production and incorporated greater melody, theatricality, and structural sophistication in their music, Ildjarn pursued his uniquely misanthropic vision with a sound that was raw, primitive, and unrelenting, animated by the purity of his hatred for humanity and little else. Ildjarn represents the distillation of black metal’s essence, which, at its core, has never been about a particular sound or style. Black metal is a fundamentally anti-social movement, and very few artists have expressed so viscerally their contempt for society as Ildjarn. Indeed, Ildjarn’s intense disdain for bands that altered their style according to trends, desperately seeking adulation from fans, was one of his primary reasons for abandoning the black metal scene.Discordant, hypnotic, and repetitive, Ildjarn forces the listener to...

***Strange Passage is a band stuck twofold: locatively, being split between Boston and New York; and trajectorily, embracing the past while barreling toward the future. The group formed among the shadows of Boston in the pale, early days of 2016 and has been delighting listeners and confounding expectations since. Immediate comparisons were made to Felt, the Feelies, and the Church. The band quietly hammered out an EP (Shine and Scatter) and LP (Shouldn’t Be Too Long) both released on Syncro System Records, and toured extensively throughout the United States, sharing the stage with contemporaries like Tony Molina, Dummy, En Attendant Ana, and Chain of Flowers along the way. Proof that artists could work in relative social media reclusion, eschewing the brain-numbing content churn of the billionaires' nightmare machine.A Folded Sky on Meritorio Records is Strange Passage’s second album, which crystallizes the band’s sound and ethos. The album showcases the band’s signature sense of melody while incorporating influences like from the motorik beats of NEU!, the psychedelic sounds of Velvet Underground, and the political sensibilities of McCarthy and Zounds. The band features Greg Witz on guitar, Ricky Hartman on drums, Andrew Jackmauh on bass, and Renato Montenegro on guitar and vocals. Muted Forms is the third set of collected tracks in K. Leimer’s Forms series.“While I was design student one professor continually professed his favorite bromide: ”Quantity Yields Quality”. This may or may not be true. But, given the increasing plasticity of any medium, it now seems an invitation to go down the rabbit hole and stay there. Which is how and where the Forms project took shape.”Muted Forms is an inherently more varied collection than Proximate and Resting Forms. Listeners who may fondly recall Eno’s first Music for Films collection will find certain resonances here, especially in the contrast and broad scope of the assembled tracks. Completed pieces sit between unfinished tracks, while the fast, the slow, the loud, and the still all coexist within the defined boundaries of the project. Muted Forms presents all the remaining material generated for the Forms project, emphasizing the free association of voices, pitches, effects, structure, and processing, and joins Proximate, and Resting Forms to complete Leimer’s years-long exercise in ”Quantity Yields Quality”.Mastered by James Savage.

Fuzz's Fourth Dream
In The Red

Fuzz, the California based trio of Ty Segall (vocals, drums), Charles Moothart (vocals, guitar), and Chad Ubovich (vocals, bass), present their latest release Fuzz’s Fourth Dream on In The Red Records. This is the band’s first release in four years and is a collection of singles, unreleased demos, and rarities.“I lived in a four-bedroom house in San Francisco that housed anywhere from six to ten people at a time,” Moothart explains. “Friends were always crashing when they were between spots, on tour, or just couldn’t make it home. It was a chaotic space, but a space that was cherished by many. Chad frequently crashed on our couch when on tour—surrounded by ashtrays full of cigarettes and joint roaches; beer cans and spray paint cans.“I remember jamming on guitar and drums with Ty at like 2 AM in the garage (still feel bad for putting the neighbors through that.) One day, under Ty’s guidance, I dragged a 388 in to the garage. I decided I wanted to write a Sabbath-style riff just to see what happens. I laid down some drums, then came up with what would become “Fuzz’s Fourth Dream.”.I showed Ty the ‘demo’ which was more of a sloppy idea. He basically said ‘Let’s make this band”... and Fuzz was off.“This collection really does give a proper road map to what this band is and was, as well as how the two connect,” Moothart explains. “Fuzz means a lot to me, and I have learned so much through these...

Kurt Vile once sang that he had a freeway in mind, but Matt Kivel (Vile’s former Woodsist labelmate) literally has a freeway mind. Kivel grew up in Santa Monica, California, getting shuttled up and down the 10, the 101, PCH, and all the other freeways Angelenos lovingly affix definite articles to. He started out in music as part of the buzzy, Eagle Rock-based indie band Princeton, toured the country relentlessly, burned out, and then resurfaced with a series of bleak, hauntingly spare solo albums that garnered widespread critical acclaim.Over the ensuing decade, Kivel collaborated closely with a growing set of brilliant, and varied musicians from across the globe, including Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Alasdair Roberts, Madi Diaz, Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes, Jana Horn, and Satomimagae. He moved to Austin, Texas then left for New York City for a spell and then returned to Austin where he settled down. In 2017, he started writing the songs for what would become his eighth solo album, Escape From L.A.Escape From L.A. is an autobiographical song cycle that chronicles the first thirty-three years of Kivel’s life in the City of Angels. The material was labored over, rewritten, rearranged, and rerecorded numerous times, between LA, New York, and Austin. Kivel self-effacingly refers to it as his “bootleg as hell Blood On The Tracks” with myriad alternate sequences, tempos and arrangements that will never see the light of day. It involved over twenty collaborators, a string section, pedal steel guitars, and a renewed lyrical and vocal...

Question Authority '81 - '84 by Bomb Squad

Bomb Squad

Question Authority '81 - '84
PNV

***Collection of this Dallas, Texas hardcore group's 1982 7" and 1983 12" EP. Playing tons of shows with fellow longhorns Big Boys, Offenders, the Dicks, Stickmen with Rayguns, etc., Bomb Squad earned their place in the early 80's Texas pantheon. Musically, they borrowed heavily from what was happening in the UK at the time, and in that regard maybe they were more comparable to like minded Anglophiles like Toxic Reasons or Kraut. Regardless of the influence, the important thing is this LP delivers 12 tracks of high energy, anthemic, fist banging hardcore punk. With politically conscious lyrics to match the infectious songwriting, what's not to love here? The collection is fleshed out with tons of classic flyers, promo ephemera and liner notes to complete this loving homage to an underrated group.

Ash Eclipses Flesh by Terror Corpse

Terror Corpse

Ash Eclipses Flesh
Dark Descent

“Low tuned, dark and violent Texas death metal,” comes the uncompromising answer from Terror Corpse drummer Dobber Beverly when pressed to define his newest abomination. Formed in 2025 yet manned by veterans of the US underground, Terror Corpse rise from the remnants of Malignant Altar, continuing where their predecessor left off – still in league with Dark Descent Records.Produced entirely in-house by the skinsman, the record’s sound is as distinctive as it is crushing. From the first pounding kick drum, soon joined by a gut-wrenching bassline, Ash Eclipses Flesh never loosens its relentless grip.“I wanted to essentially have a super low tuned Celtic Frost guitar sound with a modern and large natural drum recording. Big room, big drum sounds. Tack on some cavernous low, Craig Pillard style vocals and bass guitar and you’ve got our sound.”The band’s veneration of the Celtic Frost’s legacy is further demonstrated by the album’s closer, a cover of Into the Crypts of Rays. Dobber makes no secret of Terror Corpse’s influences: “Disciples Of Mockery, Incantation, pre-2000s Morbid Angel; essentially older evil American death metal. Celtic Frost is a massive influence to all of us. From their primitive and violent beginnings to the ultra experimental and dark era of their later records.”Ash Eclipses Flesh is clad in artwork courtesy of the notorious Shoggoth Kinetics, displaying a horrifying future so far and near: “Lyrically the album follows a kind of dystopian downfall of humanity. Something crossing surreality and future outlook based off of current happenings. A race...

Live in NYC 1979 by Stare Kits

Stare Kits

Live in NYC 1979
Feeding Tube

***"46 years after I first heard Stare Kits on a cassette, they finally have an LP. About time! This NYC quartet's name often comes up in discussions of the No Wave era, which make sense. The members—Angela Jaeger, Amy Rigby, Michael McMahon, and Bob Gurevics—were all fans of the scene, and involved with various aspects of TR3, one of No Wave's pre-eminent showcases. UT played their first gig opening for Stare Kits. Rick Brown (Blinding Headache, Information, etc.) played guest sax with them. Julia Gorton used Amy as a photo model almost as often as she used Lydia Lunch, and so on. But despite such connections they were not a No Wave band. Stare Kits's music certainly use instrumental elements in line with No Wave's ethos, but these're part of a much larger mix. The band's basic approach is much rockier and punkier. Bob's guitar parts are more in the tradition of Quine and Reed than they are Lydian, the McMahon/Rigby's rhythm section is more primitive than martial, and Angela's vocals are goddamn melodic. Closer musical comparisons might be made to a various aspects of UK bands from Penetration to Wire to Deaf School to X-Ray Spex. There's a soupçon of a '79 UK DIY rattle to some of the tunes as well. But there is an ineffable something lurking in their collective soul that keeps Stare Kits's instrumental sound grounded in the NYC art-punk/street-rock continuum. Angela's vocals may resemble Penelope Houston's at moments but there's not much overt political...

The Grand Guignol by Schloss Tegal

Schloss Tegal

The Grand Guignol
No Holiday

This album is a hallmark in the death-industrial scene—both for its extreme thematic intensity and its visceral sonic brutality. It’s not for the faint of heart, but for those drawn to confrontational, thought-provoking sound art, it remains a dark classic.Released in 1993 on Artwork Production, Germany, The Grand Guignol is a dark, uncompromising work blending industrial, noise, dark ambient, experimental, and drone genres. The album delivers a relentless sonic assault with unsettling themes—serial killers, anthropophagy, existential dread—drawn from disturbing real-world sourcesTracks include titles like “The Cannibal,” “Black Dahlia,” “Hunting for Humans,” and “Certificate of the Wound,” culminating in a chilling Epilogue. The sound is characterized by droning textures, distorted voices, samples of serial killer recordings, pre-death gasps, fragmented conversations, and deeply brooding atmospheresOne reviewer vividly described it as “an extreme noise and menacing ambient” experience, "hard to listen to the whole of it without becoming depressed or mad."Another recounted being initially repelled, then strangely captivated by its dark audio landscapes—“all the vileness that can be found in the depths of human nature”2xLP on opaque red vinyl. Layered, gloss overprint on matte gatefold, showing an anatomical drawing.

Live at The Empty Bottle by Teengenerate

Teengenerate

Live at The Empty Bottle
Hozac

***An earth-moving night in Chicago, 30 crazy years ago, caught HOT on tape and finally unleashed! Teengenerate were a force to be reckoned with in the ‘90s garage punk underground and with their string of classic singles and LPs, the Midwest was just STARVED for these heathens to break our minds wide open. And they did, and some of us were just “never the same.” Is this how Hozac started? YES, this was THE SEED.Just an awe-inspiring brute force of punk purity, slashing through incredible covers of THE KIDS, PAGANS, and FUN THINGS and sowing the seeds of obscure punk obsessions to no end with their savage treasure map of sick sounds. The heat, the power, the rage and the euphoria, it just doesn’t always align like it did when Fink & Fifi took the stage. Sure enough, it was on THIS DAY 30 years ago that our minds were blown apart and our eyes were opened and a life-changing rock’n roll performance that commemorates the 50th release on the Hozac Archival subsidiary. Secretly recorded by Ken White, the Brides’ right hand man, and mastered by TIM WARREN of Crypt Records for maximum authenticity, Live at the Empty Bottle just explodes out of the grooves and will level anyone within earshot, just like it did when Teengenerate desecrated Chicago TWICE on the same night (check out their VML Live at the Fireside Bowl 7″ too!), exactly 30 years ago TODAY!

’73-’78 - Live Nights In Venice Vol. 1 by Saints, The

Saints, The

’73-’78 - Live Nights In Venice Vol. 1
In The Red

"It’s inevitable that some people will have reservations on a Chris Bailey-less live Saints record. Word on the street is the shows for this incarnation of the Saints have been outstanding. The story checks out listening to Live Nights in Venice Vol. 1. So, what do we have here? Original Saints lead guitarist/founder Ed Kuepper, original Saints drummer Ivor Hay, Mark Arm (Mudhoney) on vocals, Peter Oxley (Sunnyboys) on bass and Mick Harvey (The Birthday Party, Bad Seeds) on guitar. That’s a heavy lineup. "As I write, The Saints have been on tour in the States, performing their classic first three albums from the Kuepper and Hay era (Kuepper left The Saints in 1979, Hay would float in and out throughout the 1980s). Live Nights in Venice Vol. 1 pulls two tracks from (I’m) Stranded (“Nights in Venice” and “No Time”) and two from Eternally Yours (“[I’m] Misunderstood” and “Know Your Product”). The band is smoking and Mark Arm more than makes the grade on vocals. “Know Your Product” is the highlight for me, if only because the brass/sax section of Julien Wilson (tenor sax), Eamon Dilworth (trumpet) and Mark Spencer (baritone sax) is outstanding. It’s a high-quality live recording; the red-vinyl 12” spins at 45 RPMs. Live Nights in Venice Vol. 1 is definitely worth the price of admission." -Ryan Leach
