***GET DEAD were originally drawn together by their love for punk rock, joy of acoustic impurities, desire to keep music simple, and on a lesser scale, their shared affinity for the drink. In fact, Get Dead's first band practice allegedly consisted solely of hollowing out some pineapples, filling them with rum, and “getting sticky”, as Sam (lead singer) puts it. Regardless of their unorthodox start, they did eventually get on track and have since been creating some of the most earnest and satisfying punk rock around. Aftera couple years of playing famously raucous shows in the BayArea the band’s song writing ability caught the ear of NOFX frontman Fat Mike, resulting in three stellar albums over the last eight years. We are excited to now be able to share with you Get Dead's debut album from before Fat Wreck got their hands on them. Letters Home- available for the first time on vinyl- is an essential piece of the GET DEAD collection, giving insight into the early days of the band and how they have evolved into what they are today.

***BACK IN STOCK!!! If you were to listen to GET DEAD'supcoming album Dancing with the Curse before reading this, you would think it was written about the year 2020. Surprisingly, the band started recording it more than two years ago but it feels perfectly time for today. Look no further than the song “Pepperspray,” written long before the protests of summer 2020. The band had begun collaborating with activist-artist collective INDECLINE on a video before the George Floyd protests erupted. If there was any time to share the message of “Pepperspray,” this was it. While Dancing with the Curse features Get Dead’s signature NorCal punk sound, balancing bombast with up-picked bounce and dirt-smudged acoustic songs, listeners will notice some curious moments. Subtle electronic flourishes lurk in songs like “Disruption,” “Glitch,” “Confrontation,” and “Take It.” The album opens with an atmospheric intro built on singer SAM KING's gravelly voice and hip-hop-inflected cadence—a happy accident. These sonic detours suit a band that isn’t known to stay in one place for too long. The conclusion of a long yet worthwhile journey, Dancing with the Curse is Get Dead’s most self-assured album yet, one perfectly suited to the times: raw, energized, frustrated, but ultimately unbowed.

***Contrary to the title, GET DEAD’s latest full-length Honesty Lives Elsewhere, is one of the most honest albums you’ll ever find. No shtick. No posturing. Just straight up, from the heart, punk rock. With multiple releases under their collective belt, Get Dead have really honed their trademark blend of raw punk and acoustic folk into a seamless style that feels completely natural. Once again Get Dead teamed up with FAT MIKE (NOFX) as a producer and with Honesty’s ear-pleasing melodies the results are obvious. The lyrics and temper of Honesty Lives Elsewhere are instantly relatable, drawing on the experiences and tribulations of scraping through the day to day. Of course, SAM’s gritty delivery packs its normal punch, wrenching the listener right into the irresistible fire. From start to finish Honesty Lives Elsewhere is an engaging experience that restores faith in genuine punk rock. LP includes a download.

***GET DEAD, the latest band to join the Fat Wreck family, is an electric/acoustic punk rock band hailing from San Francisco. They were originally drawn together by their love for punk rock, joy of acoustic impurities, desire to keep music simple, and on a lesser scale, their shared affinity for the drink. In fact, Get Dead’s first band practice allegedly consisted solely of hollowing out some pineapples, filling them with rum, and “getting sticky”, as SAM (lead singer) puts it. Regardless of their unorthodox start, they did eventually get on track and have since been creating some of the most earnest and satisfying punk rock around. After a couple years of playing famously raucous shows in the Bay Area the band’s song writing ability caught the ear of NOFX front man Fat Mike. He offered to produce their next album, Bad News, and it’s got the melodies and hooks to prove it. Bad News features 12 intriguing tracks driven by Sam’s raspy and captivating melodies. Musically, Bad News walks a genre tightrope melding traditional punk rock and acoustic instrumentation (including accordion, horns, and other accents), yet never losing its balance between the two. The album ends up leaving you with a feeling of visceral, gritty sincerity that’ll have you hoisting a pint glasses and screaming along. For comparison’s sake, Bad News is a cocktail of early Against Me!, mixed with elements of Swingin’ Utters, The Pouges, Hot Water Music, and topped off with a twist of US Bombs. Shaken, not...
