***BACK IN STOCK - LAST COPIES!!! Received a 7.3 rating from Pitchfork. “MV & EE take their homespun hypnotics and cosmic country sounds to new levels on Root / Void. I love this album— it trips hard and hauntingly—a gift for languid golden afternoons or late night moonlight powwows. Anthem-worthy tape edits on some cuts crack open surreal and cinematic vistas. While joined by fellow travelers here and there, this album remains in essence a fecund duet from two entwined souls, updating and re-defining their unique pool of sound. Temporary Capital Of Awesomeness / Get Stoned Hard / Barbarian Blitz
Heroine Celestial Agriculture
howdy COM-RADs, been awhile since we blasted a nice price MV/EE 3 fer so here you go. lots to DIG here, alpha lyrae hairy extensions, space homesteads, alpine frequencies. aside from the jams, most importantly these recent shows highlight the developments in our mobile fidelity spectrasound system, tapers section is full swinging pig. there are two festival shows -> one from the catskills at the LODGE event that our old friends at WGXC put on, does anybody remember brooklyn pirate radio and free103point9…well they reared their blessed heads higher than a loft transfiguring us under the stars and driving range. alotta drive in the amps as well…great bill, groovy times captured herein with extendoid riffage aplenty. the other festival is the sweet homegrown FUTURE FEST in our big city brattleboro, VT. the one and only…here we transmit inside a stone church and our host said it became "the temporary capital of awesomeness". sweet tone…hear it and be there now. the third jammer is from the iron horse music hall in northampton, it was our "record release" for alpine tenement…byron coley's feeding tube delivery service delivered the payload. this gig is all money shot, yesterdays sound now. as one long time COMmie/MV & EE head says…"gotta say, matt, that this recent bunch of shows are truly out of the top drawer - great, great sound". this fella lives near the northern lights…he's onto somethin'…get brighter now too.

"i was feeling rockets all the time when we were creating and listening to this record. sometimes they were bottle rockets, imaginary rockets, estes, space crafts and gimongous star machines that haven’t been built yet. more importantly i was feeling stages, secondary...tertiary…beyond growth. definitely alotta triangulation with the “eye” and geometric eye in the sky -> always liftoff/ground, fruit/roots. ∞ philosophies. those kinda sounds often bless our head to remind us heads, they peak and peek out of the spectra as explosions. hopefully that translates for you, it will if you are that kind. maybe dig it in headphones if at first you don't succeed. in many ways this LP represents the cosmic fire of orgasm. we waited for a long time…" - matt valentine, maximum arousal farm (vermont 2014) "Some people have a hard time picking sides, not me, not here: I'll take the flip. It starts high on the crazy horse, all gallop and fuzz, and begins to fray in the most glorious way. When the tambourine starts to shake, the jam goes to shambles — they coulda let it in, coulda make some rock heroism out of it, but they let it soak, standing outside, staring through the window as the storm rages on. It's one of those moments that makes it real clear why MV&EE end up on bills with boundary pushers as often as mellow jammers. Of course, matt and erika being who they are and doing what they do, bring it back home,...

In the autumn of 2012 MV & EE were roastin' venues across the great divide on the deep space circuit (and beyond). This memphis hoot was about 1/3 in on their major "coast to roast" tour, flyin' free(k) flag flutter, flannel amps and good ol' US blues with multitrack tapes/matrices to prove it. the duo exchanges on this ride were monumental demarcations and this one brings you SO THERE, it's like you were sitting with headphone monitors for a private showcase (literally) of their far reaching music, which at this point is now at a legendary peak. should you need an introduction, extended jams/exploratory tunes meet alien vocal contact and explosive fuzz drenched "acoustic" folk forms…then there is the raga off trail. this becomes the earth for them to jettison wings into what might seem like "no direction (home)" but actually is clear articulation & yet never played the same way twice. dig it…LISTEN to their live shows, they have to be heard to be believed. the deployment of the compositions on this HEROINE document a watershed period of MV & EE and they have moved beyond their early influences (help yourself/jerry garcia/charles plymell) to become unique masters. Matt & Erika flying on a general out of SOMEWHERE untouchable freedom rag with weirdness & execution that literally blows away most contempo units trying to mine the same sonic depths. no COMpetition. there's a vibe at this show that is totally outta time and once again proves that there can be...

Fantastic sounding/looking collection of the very hard to find 7 disc set from their residency at the very groovy "zebulon" in january 2012. This is the BOMB of the tapers pit to date, we can call it a "section" now because we have moved into the realm of COMpartmentalization regarding the "MV & EE" live sound. This document rises above the sonic meniscus of the prior efforts (april flower/suub duub) as we have brought the multitrack into the form and we thank YOU for that! Why not run hi-fi tape recorders, insist on soundboards with room mics as well as collecting audience recordings from some of the bands greatest "tapers"? Who else would do that for you but C.O.M. -> and the others weren't quite "lo-fi" and raw, and we LIKE that! We dig B-movies, B-music, global primitive…but we went beyond here. YOU are treated to intimate, extremely detailed and often synapse bending renditions of some concert classics and more than a handful of debut live songs. This is the stuff dreams are made of, not only the up close nature of the performances captured in glorious MVspectrasound but the varied moods of acoustic/electric/environments. Intimate duo exchanges, legendary trios and full on Golden Road, mellow chill and life/luv smoke. Cork, tea and burn all around…Special guests/The Golden Road: rongoose/smokehound/herbcraft/steve gunn/andre vida/willie lane/p.g. six/jarvis taveniere/jeremy earl.

“MV & EE” is slang for zero gravity, and even though they’ve been doing it consistently better since forever, they still want to give you more of their best. The DIY wall of sound of Space Homestead was recorded over the course of a year in nine different studios, presenting as clearly as circumstances permit a living idea right here and now of what it is all about. These are sonics in motion, the satiate plural perfect supply of the hunger unusual, the picturesque in sound. Grab a shuttle for your spectra-sound furniture any time in any aeon and dig the volume of their trip.

STORMCOCKNEY: this was the first set of two at the esteemed "cafe oto" in london. a groovy room...marshall allen's arkestra was also playing there in the same month and erika and i said hello to him at the airport on our flight over. we were really feelin' the love at this set, the room was packed and electrified plus we had mick flower and the doozer on board for bangers and mash. a rare release issued on the HEROINE U.K. imprint, not many of these were manufactured and distribution was limited to the merch table and the deep connects (with Volcanic Tongue leading the pack). now you too can grip this rising storm as if you were sittin' right there in hackney with us. GIS A JOB (no homemade slop): not quite live at leeds but equally near the airport of intimate sonics. this was a great DIY show at "the vicarage", which was a house show for heads. bridget hayden and the ashtray navigations were also on the bill, what a gig! we rolled as a trio with mick and this is another one of those "nights" on the "steal yr slice" tour which began back in glasgow with "i left my wallet in the trossachs". in fact, all the shows in this "nice price 3 fer" were launched from that tour. for those familiar with that ride, this plaster is way more of the up close and personal variety. this is as near as we'll ever...

Nice vibe = a nice price 3 fer from MV & EE and all their open roads - lovingly restored for YOU from a sweet spot in the tapers pit. Dig this triad courtesy of Heroine Celestial Agriculture, THE spectrasound you've come to know and love from this division of Child Of Microtones. You are immersed and right there, right now: TOASTED COOKIE: we respectfully call the goose/moloney rhythm section of the golden road "the toasted clam", partially in honor of the clamtones, always in honor of toasting and fully cos you never know where it is gonna open up with this unit. hard to net the sound and we always try to set sail. we'd been playing together as a quartet and beyond for awhile, even way before the "TOASTED CLAM" disc from which rounds out this trilogy...this set is lovingly referred to as the "toasted cookie" cos in many ways it is a reprise of the spirit found at the classic electric issue set. it was a wild evening, crystalline roses laid down some sik solo strings, zebu let it rip with high harmonix and the family underground were in town - KILLER - yeah that kinda nite! all synapses were firing on redemption and then some, we were gettin' gone. yeah we've been playin' together since even before THAT double LP. thurston was in the tapers pit, he said somethin' like "youse sound good in this room". we even pulled out the burden, burn den indeed. Originally released in 2007, "Eye in the Pines" is an outer limb exploration of one of the highest peaks of the MV & EE sound, it is also the first appearance of "Get Right Church" in a gutbucket style that would make will shade moan proud. Space blues crash against lonely tones of the purest amber tinted maple circuit and there is SPECTRASOUND out the ying yang. The material is predominantly the core duo exchange of Matt and Erika but Rongoose shows up on a coupla tracks to let rip some wicked precision bass and Ruth Garbus (of Feathers, Happy Birthday) lays down some wicked-solid awesome traps with vocal calls to ensnare even the furthest depths of MV's sasquatch guitar. Together, they all bag the beast within and in the deepest dub of the forest you can hear Jerry with Lee Perry, Blind Willie Johnson, Jo Ann Kelly, Jorma, Sonny Sharrock and good ol' Neil mellowin' all minds round the campfire. Come on by and roast one. This was COM 30 issued in an edition of 99 copies packaged in metallic gold paper with hand painted covers by Matt Valentine with insert. 3 colors of paint were used along with a pinner for the grass. Each cover also had "MV & EE" handwritten with love.

Nice vibe = a nice price sweet spot 3 fer from MV & EE and all their open roads. Here are three beautiful documents courtesy of Heroine Celestial Agriculture, THE spectrasound and the tapers pit you've come to know and love from this division of Child Of Microtones. You are immersed and right there: DOUBLE DOUBLE RAW - you can really hear the good ol' bear, i.e. owsley, take its toll and bring out the best of us at this beautifully ragged and raw show from toronto circa our "gettin' gone" gone fishin' tour. this was a ramble when we rolled out to terrastock and we were doing two sets or two nights whenever possible. dig the legendary local hoot advertised in the original double LP gatefold...two nite stand among a week of karaoke. real people...real jams. always a fine trip with the canada goose riders of the golden road and we even got eric chenaux to stand up when he boogied at this set. MV/EE/DOC/MUSKOX/ANDERSON/CHENAUX TERRASTOCK RAGA - sweet drone and stately environments on the impromptu "acoustic" stage at terrastock 7. we got into some deep, everybody humming away into the unimind...many are one! MV/EE/TIM BARNES/WILLIE LANE/DOC/MUSKOX GENE POOL - an unbelievable transmission from this duo exchange in the deep south on the "drone trails" tour. while i breathe, i hope. gotta love it when one of the punters requests "the uranian ray". fried like only south carolina can...just wait 'til we hit shreveport, LA. “This is was our 2nd night of a two night residency in Penryn, Cornwall - one of my (many) favorite places to visit and play in the UK. Great people and great vibe, this was the philosophy of the "Steal Yr Slice" tour. Kath Bloom was opening up both nights which was a real treat... we were invited down to hang out and to do two "different" sets, the first night was acoustic based and this "Freak Flag" set was our electric set, totally different material, full on quartet with drums. “Used to be a time when MV & EE's main means of expression was their Child Of Microtones. Tons of full length albums would be released every year on that label, but nowadays, we're lucky if we get more than one per year). True the band seem to permanently be on the road so there is less time to record anything at the Maximum Arousal Farm. The Heroine Celestial Agriculture label has now gone on to become the main outlet for their live recordings (these seem to pop up everywhere like weed—no pun intended) and I'm not complaining really, but I do miss all the elaborately packaged albums from the early years. Hick Smoke is the first CoM release for 2009 (I'm keeping my fingers crossed for more) and is an interesting mix between the band's bastardized Neil Young clones, their LSD-laced folk tunes and the infamous extended freak-out jams. Sure wish there would be more like this, cuz Hick Smoke is definitely a must for fans.”—The Reall Nitty Gritty.

***Brand-new self-released COM packaged with full color sleeves and inserts from the duo of MATTHEW VALENTINE and ERIKA ELDER. A collection of massively dosed studio recordings, Liberty Rose opens with beams of elegiac solo guitar before dropping into a classic slow-burning jag with puffs of echo/delay damaged vocals melting into hallucinatory afterimages while Erika slides quicksilver runs all the way down your spine. At this stage Child Of Microtones has the same relationship to the Ecstatic Peace releases that Richard Youngs’ No Fans imprint has to his releases on Jagjaguwar, functioning as a repository for some of the most psychedelic, experimental and personal music to escape from the personal stash.
