Best Bets

***Best Bets have never been a band for grand statements. Since forming in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2016, the quartet have built their sound around loud guitars, melodic basslines, driving drums and catchy songs full of humour and energy. Monolithic Discipline brings together 12 tracks that capture the band at their sharpest, combining two brand-new songs, previously released digital singles, two covers and their complete debut EP Life Under the Big Top (2018), originally released only on cassette and now available on vinyl for the first time.

The two new songs, “Peter Grynt” and “More Good News”, show that the band's formula remains as effective as ever, balancing scrappy guitar pop, infectious hooks and an unpretentious DIY spirit. Following their acclaimed albums On An Unhistoric Night (2022) and The Hollow Husk of Feeling (2024), this collection highlights the consistency and enduring appeal of a band that continues to make loud, melodic and effortlessly fun guitar music.
