Mutiny at Muscle Beach by Night Birds

Night Birds

Mutiny at Muscle Beach
Fat Wreck Chords

***NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! In 2009 NIGHT BIRDS resuscitated the surf-inspired 80s hardcore sound and have been cranking it to a new level ever since. Mutiny at Muscle Beach, the band’s third full-length and first on Fat Wreck Chords, is an unrepentantly raw blast of punk rock that evokes the spirit of Adolescents, Dead Kennedys, Germs, D.I., and Circle Jerks. The 12 tracks are further developed with Night Birds' integration of modern influences, a referential aesthetic, and a healthy dose of passionate innovation. From “(I’m) Wired” to “In the Red/In the Black” to the title track, Mutiny at Muscle Beach brims with an epileptic energy that defies the listener to sit still. Just like Night Birds live show, this album is an unbridled onslaught of throwback-meets-modern hardcore that never stops to take a breath.

Division of Spoils by Flatliners

Flatliners

Division of Spoils
Fat Wreck Chords

***NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! Over the course of their 13 year journey as a band THE FLATLINERS have covered an impressive amount of ground, cutting their teeth on aggressive ska/punk and eventually arriving at their current sound of incredibly nuanced, passionate, and heavy punk rock. The vehicle for this trek, and the one constant throughout, has been The Flatliners’ proficient song writing. Never short on killer riffs or innovative and unforgettable melodies, the guys have churned out an impressive amount of material over a relatively brief amount of time. With seven EPs and singles, and countless contributions to compilations to their credit, The Flatliners’ catalog extends way beyond their four full-length albums. In fact, it’s become so robust that the band recently decided to create a collection of all their loose ends. Division of Spoils brings together B-sides, rarities, and unreleased songs that span the history of the band. From a couple unearthed fledgling demos to some unreleased gems that were recorded during the Dead Language sessions, Division of Spoils serves as a retrospective of The Flatliners’ evolution. Classifying the album as a “B-sides” collection is a bit of a misnomer, though. Division of Spoils is packed with treasures that will have you wondering how these hits were ever left of the full-lengths in the first place. Of course, since these guys only feel at home on the road, they’ll be bringing their raucous live show across North America as a featured band on the Fat Wrecked for 25 Years...

***Go To Prison is the debut release from New Orleans hardcore upstarts PEARS. Since its limited release in 2014, Go To Prison has taken the punk scene by the balls and refused to let go. Needless to say, we at Fat Wreck Chords are huge fans and after a few overtures we successfully convinced PEARS to let us rerelease this monumental album. Go To Prison twitches back and forth between genuine old-school hardcore and extremely melodic choruses without ever missing a beat. PEARS throw a little New Orleans voodoo juju on the sometimes tedious and wearied hardcore genre to create a unique and fresh sound that truly belongs to them. These guys are absolute maniacs and it comes across in the unrelenting intensity of their music and live shows. Like most things that emanate from the French Quarter, this shit’s potent. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

***Originally known as the singer, songwriter, and founder of both LAGWAGON and BAD ASTRONAUT, JOEY CAPE has established himself as a recognized solo artist over the past 9 years. His solo ventures have allowed Joey to stretch the bounds of his musical stylings, highlighting more diverse instrumentation, subdued pace, and experimental elements. The one constant is JOEY’s unique ability to craft unforgettable songs. Joey's latest solo endeavor, Stitch Puppy, is comprised of 10 captivating tracks that display a further progression in his sound. Poetic lyrics are set to acoustic instrumentation (guitar, piano, cello, mandolin, percussion) and driven by strong melodies. From the haunting refrain of “Broken” to the perky galloping chorus on “Moral Compass”, Stitch Puppy displays a vast range within its genre. The album is filled out with guest vocals from CHRIS CRESSWELL (THE FLATLINERS), YOTAM BEN HORIN (USELESS ID), and BRIAN WAHLSTROM. Fans of any Joey Cape project will be thrilled by Stitch Puppy. Backstage Passport 2
Fat Wreck Chords

***In 2008 punk veterans NOFX released an 8-part TV docu-series called NOFX: Backstage Passport, which followed the band’s ill-fated attempts to take punk rock to the unconquered corners of the globe. The mayhem that ensued was a mix of hilarious moments and crazy snafus that resulted in some shows on the tour being canceled. Over the following four years NOFX set out to make up several shows in Mexico, Peru and Colombia that got derailed on their first attempt. Not surprisingly there were just as many bumps in the road this time around: inner-band meltdowns, shady promoters, tear gas, fires, drugs, an 8.8 earthquake and, of course, riot cops. Once again the cameras were there to capture every inglorious moment and it’s all available for your viewing pleasure as part of Backstage Passport 2. In addition to the feature-length documentary, the two disc set contains two “lost episodes” (Australia and Eastern Europe) from the original Backstage Passport series and loads of unreleased bonus footage. Backstage Passport 2 is your ticket to accompany NOFX on more berserk international adventures, done as only they can. (STREET DATE - 8/21/2015)

***Not Sorry is the much anticipated first full-length album from all female super-group BAD COP/BAD COP. Aptly titled, Not Sorry brazenly blasts out some of the most vibrant pop-punk around today. Laden with catchy hooks, three part harmonies that’d make The Beach Boys jealous, and tons of attitude, all 13 tracks showcase Bad Cop / Bad Cop's uncanny ability to blend aggressive instrumentation with polished vocals. A quick glance at the band’s collective resume (COMPTON SF, THE RADIO SWEETHEART, THE D'MAGGX, THE CITY, ANGRY AMPUTEES, and CUNT SPARRER) will disabuse any doubters of the notion that BC/BC can’t hang with the boys. From front to back Not Sorry absolutely brings the rock. Tracks like “Old Dogs”, “Nightmare”, and “Support” display the band’s hard-playing style and strong sense of melody. One listen to Not Sorry and you’ll know why Bad Cop / Bad Cop have generated so much buzz in such a short time. LP includes a download. (STREET DATE - 6/16/2015)

***NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! After prematurely snuffing out a career that burned so brightly by calling it quits in 2007, GOOD RIDDANCE reignite the embers with the blazing inferno Peace In Our Time. Good Riddance are known for helping to mold the melodic/hardcore genre and for churning out some its most revered albums. Peace In Our Time draws on the most prized elements of GR’s catalog. So much so that it could be described as a “greatest hits” album that is comprised of all new material. Built on a foundation of hardcore, saturated with scorching riffs and bound to GR’s strong sense of melody, Peace In Our Time hits all the high notes of their résumé. The same classic lineup responsible for A Comprehensive Guide to Moderne Rebellion, Ballads from the Revolution, and Operation Phoenix are back at the helm for Peace In Our Time and it’s reflected in the result. Good Riddance’s ability to blend thrash-laden, discordant hardcore and aggressive melodic punk into their own signature compound has gained them the respect of their peers, fans, and critics alike. ***Known for his career with legendary punk band SWINGIN’ UTTERS, DARIUS KOSKI’s abilities as a song writer and musician are undeniable. Though many fans only associate him with his punk rock success, the realm of his expertise expands far beyond. Darius’ first official solo album, Sisu, is the perfect window into the lesser known side of his song writing. Of course, there were occasional glimpses along the way. Swingin’ Utters classics like “Fruitless Fortunes,” “Glass House,” and “Shadows & Lies” were originally written as solo material. But now, with the release of Sisu, we get a full view. Comprised of 15 tracks, Sisu is a veritable grab bag of acoustic genres and instrumentation, replete with guitar, piano, banjo, accordion, violin, glockenspiel, vibraphone, melodica and ukulele. From the haunting honkytonk piano on “Paper Tigers” to the galloping rhythm and surf guitar accents on “Howls From the Gale,” Sisu weaves its way through country, blues, acoustic indie, bluegrass, and both American and Irish folk. Although every track highlights a unique genre, each song shares the strong sense of melody Darius honed through years of writing hit songs for the Swingin’ Utters. (STREET DATE - 4/07/2015)

***Rats in the Burlap is the latest salvo from celtic punks THE REAL McKENZIES. The album opens with a rousing anthem worthy of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and maintains the boot-stomping passion throughout. After 23 years of traversing the globe to spread their festive, high-octane, booze-fueled brand of punk rock, The band show no signs of slowing. With street-punk standards highlighted by traditional Scottish musical elements, Rats in the Burlap is the perfect representation of what the band does best. From the fast paced, ultra-riffy punk classic “Who’d a Thought” to the penny whistle that playfully ambles its way through the catchy “You Wanna Know What,” the sing-along spirit of the album never lets up. The Real McKenzies only feel at home while on the road, so rest assured that they’ll be sweeping across the land in a dust cloud of big riffs, bagpipes, and pint-hoisting revelry. Backstage Passport Soundtrack
Fat Wreck Chords

***In 2008 NOFX starred in the TV show Backstage Passport, a series that documented the insane hijinks of the band as they weaved an unsteady path through exotic locales where most sane bands fear to tread. The reality romp originally aired on FUSE and later went on to be released on DVD, which served up tons of “too hot for TV” bonus footage. After the resounding success of the series, NOFX have been met with endless requests for a soundtrack including all the rare and exclusive songs (5 previously unreleased) from the show. After all, NOFX were beloved for their music long before their foray into the world of the Kardashians, Real Housewives, and the like. Well, fans can finally stop their pleading, because the official Backstage Passport Soundtrack is finally going to be available on CD and LP. Packed with 15 tracks from both seasons (That’s right! The second season is nearin completion as you read this.), the Backstage Passport Soundtrack is a one-stop shop for all the rare, remixed, and unreleased material that fans could only previously enjoy as snippets during the show. Followers of the show and diehard NOFX collectors will both be ecstatic that this soundtrack has gone from rumor to reality. (STREET DATE - 2/10/2015)

***JACK DALRYMPLE has cultivated a near legendary status with his involvement in ONE MAN ARMY, SWINGIN’ UTTERS, DEAD TO ME and THE REVOLTS. Of course, few musicians in punk rock possess a calling card like Jack’s velvety vocals, but his song writing and guitar work are just as renowned. All three talents are on full display in Jack’s latest endeavor, TOYGUITAR. Filled out by MILES PECK, ROSIE GONCE and PAUL OXBORROW, all outstanding musicians in their own right, toyGuitar churns out a hyper-elevated level of garage rock. Based on the raw fuzz of ‘70s protopunk and complemented by intricate guitar leads, unbelievably hook laden melodies, and captivating lead and backing vocals, toyGuitar’s ultra-stylized sound even incorporates elements of surf, ‘60s soul, and power pop. In This Mess is toyGuitar’s first full-length and first release on Fat. From the Bowie-esque twinge of “Human Hyenas,” to an attitude reminiscent of The Stooges on “In My Head,” to the hypnotic vibe of “Roller Coasters,” every track on In This Mess offers something unique without ever losing the album’s pervasive jolt of energy. Last Chance To Dance
Fat Wreck Chords

***NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! By 1989’s Brain Drain, the RAMONES’ eleventh and least compelling album, the band appeared creatively exhausted. Rather than pick up a New York City/CBGB has-been to fill the enormous shoes left by departing bassist Dee Dee Ramone, the band chose CHRISTOPHER JOSEPH WARD, a young punk kid fresh out of the Marine Corps. Christened CJ RAMONE, the band hit the road in 1989 on an extensive world tour that culminated in 1991’s Loco Live album. Clearly reenergized, the Ramones’ first studio record with CJ—1992’s Mondo Bizarro—was their strongest album in over a decade and a return to the classic Ramones punk rock form that they’d slipped in and out of throughout the 1980s in their search for more mainstream success. CJ R sang lead on two songs including “Strenth to Endure,” a true Ramones classic. Singing lead on three songs from 1994’s covers album, Acid Eaters and four songs on the Ramones’ swan song, “¡Adios Amigos!,” including his own tune, “Scattergun” (Joey sang another CJ original, “Got a Lot to Say”), CJ Ramone was coming into his own as a lead vocalist and songwriter. After the Ramones disbanded in 1996, CJ Ramone continued making music, honing his singing and songwriting skills in LOS GUSANOS and BAD CHOPPER before releasing Reconquista in 2012, his first official album as CJ Ramone. Invigorated by the reception of the album and live shows around the world from the Ramones faithful, CJ is back in 2014 with Last Chance to Dance,...

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Infrequently does a work of art or a performance embody the true culmination of a career, life of experience, or body of work. LAGWAGON’s latest offering Hang achieves just that. While most veteran bands coast into the finish line echoing a familiar cadence, hemmed in by the parameters of the sound they’ve defined, Lagwagon are just now realizing their full potential and picking up speed at the end of the race. As a band that has been heavily influential on modern punk, Lagwagon’s existing resume is beyond reproach, yet Hang outshines all past exploits by utilizing every bit of their hard-earned experience, musicianship, and song writing savvy. Musically it’s a concoction of Hoss, Trashed, and Blaze, seasoned with Duh’s metallic overtones and Let’s Talk About Feelings’ strong sense of melody, and finished off with a progressive character as yet unseen on any previous release. Lyrically it’s a stunningly substantive commentary on the modern world, written through the lens of a lifetime of visceral experience. Hang is the perfect balance of music and meaning; massive riffs playing off of unforgettable hooks and classic melody, all bound by a stirring tone and message. Casual and dedicated Lagwagon fans will be blown away by what Hang accomplishes, but it transcends merely appealing to existing devotees. Hang will be reflected on as a quintessential and genre-defining opus.

***THE FLATLINERS' CHRIS CRESSWELL dials down his trademark screams to a simmering, melodic growl, and hands in his wailing electric guitar for a more soulful acoustic on the latest One Week Records release. Originally conceived by Lagwagon frontman, and now highly evolved solo-artist, Joey Cape, the idea behind One Week Records was to enlist his favorite musicians to come to his professional live-in studio where they’d collaborate to produce and record an entire album in, you guessed it, one week. The process begot some of Cresswell’s most intimate and honest music to date. All 10 tracks encapsulate warm yet stirring melodies that create a feeling of proximity rarely displayed on a recorded album. We Are Diva! As the name of the album implies, their latest offering tackles the soaring refrains of 12 of the most beloved Divas in music. Celine, Cher, Madonna, Christina, Boy George… all the greats, done up in the way that only the punk rock prima donnas from the Gimmes can. Soothing and forgettable backing tracks are proudly swapped out for upbeat drums, nimble bass lines, ripping guitar leads, and naturally the tongue in cheek delivery that has become the Gimmes calling card. Of course, when taking on the Diva genre, vocals are of paramount concern. Not to worry. With front man SPIKE SLAWSON’s silky smooth singing he gives the ladies a serious run for their money. And talk about a Diva. Have you seen the guy’s platinum coif? Trust us, this album is legit. One listen and you’ll agree that the Gimmes are indeed Diva! LP includes a download.

***Like well-seasoned wayfarers, the MAD CADDIES have spent years roaming the musical landscape and thoughtfully collecting ingredients from the varied regions they encounter. A scoop of reggae, a pinch of ska, a dash of Dixieland, a splash of ragtime, all mixed into a punk-rock stock and finished with a dollop of pure melody; the Caddies cook up an olio of music like no other. The Cajun dish dirty rice is the perfect metaphor for the Mad Caddies sound and is the apt title of their latest full-length. Just like its namesake, Dirty Rice combines a hodgepodge of elements into a tasty crave-inducing platter. From the absolute classic Caddies up-tempo-punk-meets-Dixieland sound on “Bring It Down,” to the reggae/dub components of “Shoot Out the Lights” and “Dangerous,” to the Beatles or even Squeeze influenced “Down and Out,” Dirty Rice truly has it all. Yet, even with all its variety, the album never feels a bit disjointed. Skilled song writing and CHUCK’s smooth vocals act as a thread that weaves each song together seamlessly, creating a well-balanced cohesive collection. With nearly 7 years having passed since releasing their last new material, Mad Caddies fans are hungry for Dirty Rice and the band will be hitting the road hard throughout 2014 to serve it up live. ***If you somehow missed the APB, MASKED INTRUDER broke into the punk scene with their highly acclaimed 2012 self-titled album and have been building up quite a rap sheet ever since. These pop-punk prowlers have been on a non-stop crime spree, hitting town after town, abetted by the likes of NOFX, Less Than Jake, and Teenage Bottlerocket; stealing the hearts of unwitting fans all along the way. With the release of their second album M.I., these repeat offenders are picking up right where they left off, laying down 13 tracks of polished, hook-laden power-pop that’s so catchy it’s criminal. Even the most street smart music fans can easily be rendered defenseless by the sweet, soothing multilayered harmonies of M.I. By the time you realize you’re a victim it’s already too late, songs like “Crime Spree,” “I Fought the Law,” and “Saturday Night Alone” are locked in your head for good. ***By now BANNER PILOT have cemented themselves as a pillar of the ever-swelling Midwest punk scene and continue to reinforce that claim with each subsequent release. 2011’s Heart Beats Pacific elevated Banner Pilot from a band that was notably influenced by the likes of Dillinger Four, Alkaline Trio, and Screeching Weasel, to a band with such a trademark sound and style that they were the ones doing the influencing. Their latest full-length, Souvenir, only serves to strengthen their legend. On every track NICK’s gritty vocals urgently belt out poetically penned lyrics over the top of edgy up-tempo guitars and sprawling bass lines. Pairing instantly catchy melodies with aggressive and smart instrumentation, Souvenir finds a way to be equally comforting and invigorating. To be blunt, these guys literally keep getting better with every album. How is that possible, you ask? Performance enhancing drugs? Deal with the devil? Secret mentoring sessions by Phil Spector? ***After more than two decades together, 8 studio albums, and a tour schedule that’d make Jules Verne blush, LESS THAN JAKE’s longevity and level of popularity are unassailable. See The Light, their first full-length in fiver years shows the band making a triumphant return to the basics. Throughout a career that has run the gamut from self-releases and small indie imprints to large independent labels and major music conglomerates, the band’s arc has led them back to the proud status of a DIY collective that works together, much the way they began. The result of their approach is the old school sound of See The Light. The album recaptures the bouncy energy and essence of the genre defining classics Pezcore and Losing Streak, while looking through the fresh lens of experienced and cohesive song writing that LTJ have honed over their long haul together. One listen to the lead single “My Money Is On the Long Shot” and you’ll know exactly what we’re gettin’ at. From start to finish See the Light is a springy powder keg of fun songs filled out with poignant lyrics and undeniable sing-along melodies; it’s the perfect embodiment of exactly the kind of electrically charged sound that originally put Less Than Jake at the top of their genre and has kept them there ever since. ***After 10 years in the trenches relentlessly touring, continually writing and releasing new material, and coalescing as a unit, THE FLATLINERS have managed to avoid the dreaded pitfall that plagues so many other popular bands: hitting a plateau. To the contrary, having noticeably matured on each subsequent release, The Flatliners utilize their ever-increasing cohesiveness to continue to stretch the boundaries of their music. Their latest offering, Dead Language, is a testament to this fact. The 13 tracks on Dead Language display a diverse array of influences and moods, ranging from complex introspective moments to the crescendo of arena-sized choruses, all of which are deftly fused together with the intelligent song writing and musical fluidity that can only be gained through years of playing together as a band. Songs like “Caskets Full” and “Bury Me” show The Flatliners flexing their ability to pump out straight-up hits with irresistibly catchy and upbeat refrains. Then there are tracks like “Drown In Blood,” “Tail Feathers,” and “Hounds” that reflect a visceral and more intricate aspect of the band’s persona. As a whole Dead Language takes a more nuanced approach to the concoction of break-neck guitar rhythms and sing-along lyrics that have established The Flatliners as one of the most exciting acts in the punk genre today. It’s business as usual for a band whose business is consistently pushing their sound to new heights. LP includes a download.

With an unwavering dedication to their proven formula of cheeky lyrics and to-the-point music, CHIX have created a vast catalog of pop-punk classics over their more than 20 years as a band. While it’s true that a classic never dies, it never hurts to take it off the shelf and polish it up every once in a while. This is exactly what the band decided to do with their two definitive releases Born On the First of July and From Scene To Shining Scene. Both albums were originally released on Honest Don’s (a former subsidiary of Fat Wreck Chords) to great acclaim, but never quite received all the attention that they deserved. In order to remedy this the band came up with the idea for Double Diggits!, a CD that features both the Born and Scene albums in their entirety together on one disc. In addition to being paired up, both albums have been fully remastered and now contain 8 previously unreleased and extremely rare bonus tracks, bringing the total track count on Double Diggits! to a staggering 32 songs! ***GET DEAD, the latest band to join the Fat Wreck family, is an electric/acoustic punk rock band hailing from San Francisco. They were originally drawn together by their love for punk rock, joy of acoustic impurities, desire to keep music simple, and on a lesser scale, their shared affinity for the drink. In fact, Get Dead’s first band practice allegedly consisted solely of hollowing out some pineapples, filling them with rum, and “getting sticky”, as SAM (lead singer) puts it. Regardless of their unorthodox start, they did eventually get on track and have since been creating some of the most earnest and satisfying punk rock around. After a couple years of playing famously raucous shows in the Bay Area the band’s song writing ability caught the ear of NOFX front man Fat Mike. He offered to produce their next album, Bad News, and it’s got the melodies and hooks to prove it. Bad News features 12 intriguing tracks driven by Sam’s raspy and captivating melodies. Musically, Bad News walks a genre tightrope melding traditional punk rock and acoustic instrumentation (including accordion, horns, and other accents), yet never losing its balance between the two. The album ends up leaving you with a feeling of visceral, gritty sincerity that’ll have you hoisting a pint glasses and screaming along. For comparison’s sake, Bad News is a cocktail of early Against Me!, mixed with elements of Swingin’ Utters, The Pouges, Hot Water Music, and topped off with a twist of US Bombs. Shaken, not...

Night Birds

Maimed For The Masses
Fat Wreck Chords

***BACK IN STOCK!!! The high-octane surf-inspired punk rock band NIGHT BIRDS formed in the spring of 2009, and hail from the New Jersey shore and Brooklyn, NY. After one listen it only seems right that these guys spawn from the same state that brought such class acts as the Misfits and Adrenalin OD. While they take cues from the greats of 1980’s hardcore/punk bands like the Circle Jerks, Zero Boys, Adolescents, and Dead Kennedys, they manage to keep their sound fresh, while consistently taking it to that next level. The title track is the first taste of their upcoming full length, while the B-side contains 3 rippers exclusive to this EP. All 4 songs bristle with the surf-guitar twinged old school punk sound that Night Birds have made their own. (STREET DATE - 5/07/2013)

Xmas Has Been X’ed / New Year’s Revolution
Fat Wreck Chords

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Look out, St. Nick! NOFX have got a big old lump of coal to dump in your stocking. In the holiday spirit, everyone’s favorite punk rock pranksters decided to take aim at two of our most beloved celebrations with their new 7” Xmas Has Been X’ed / New Year’s Revolution. Because NOFX didn’t want to play favorites between berating Xmas and New Years, they made the 7” a double A-side, giving both title tracks a shared billing and their own full artwork. “Xmas Has Been X’ed” appeared on NOFX’s most recent album, Self Entitled, while “New Year’s Revolution” was recorded specifically for this 7”. The band also threw in a little bonus by adding a recently rerecorded and refreshed version of the rarity “Wore Out the Soles of My Party Boots”. All three tracks show the whip-smart sense of humor NOFX are known for and are paired with their signature speedy melodic instrumentation. The 7” is another limited pressing of 5,000, so NOFX’s avid vinyl collecting fans are gonna be on these things like a Cabbage Patch Kid in 1983.

Greetings & Salutations by Less Than Jake

Less Than Jake

Greetings & Salutations
Fat Wreck Chords

***As the currently reigning champs of the ska/punk genre LESS THAN JAKE have amassed legions of faithful followers over the years. With their 20th anniversary falling during 2012 the band decided to commemorate this notable milestone by creating a yearlong event, which saw the band travel far and wide (US, Europe, Japan, South America) to bring their wacky, high-flying live show to their droves fans. With so much touring planned Less Than Jake really wanted to make the celebration something special, so they recorded not one, but two different tour EPs. Greetings From Less Than Jake and Seasons Greetings From Less Than Jake were both 5 song eps the band manufactured on their own and sold on CD, exclusively at the shows they played over the course of 2012. After the party had wound down and the year-long anniversary tour came to an end the band had an idea. With the two EPs comprising some of the strongest material they had written in years and given the limited nature of their availability it seemed like combining the two tour EPs into one album was in order. So, LTJ assembled the two EPs, added 2 previously unreleased bonus tracks, and re-sequenced everything into one cohesive record, Greetings and Salutations. The final product stands alone as one of the best albums in the LTJ catalog. Of course, previously to this the songs were not available on LP, in stores, or on the web, so there are plenty of LTJ fanatics that haven’t...

Snuff

5-4-3-2-1... Perhaps?
Fat Wreck Chords

***BACK IN STOCK!!! After a long hiatus, one of the UK’s most notable and unique punk exports, SNUFF, are back with a new full-length. Since the band reunited to play The Fest back in 2009, Snuff lit a spark of hope amongst fans that there could be new material on the horizon. Well, three years down the road and that spark has evolved into an inferno of anticipation. Fortunately we’ve got just the thing to quench it: Snuff’s first new studio album in a decade (!!!), 5-4-3-2-1… Perhaps? And talk about a return to glory, the new album is in perfect company with hallmarks like Demmamussabebonk and Snuff Said. 5-4-3-2-1 is a return to that trademark Snuff sound that took up where The Specials left off, turning abandoned dancehalls into adrenaline filled clubs where punks, mods, and skins all stage dived together. The energy, melody, and, dare we say, danceability of 5-4-3-2-1… Perhaps? is at the exact level that earned Snuff such praise as “the best band in the world” from the NME. With hit after addictive hit, 5-4-3-2-1 exceeds the expectations of even the most fervent fans and will quickly be considered among the best albums of Snuff’s vast catalog. LP includes a download. Less Than Jake

(Reissue) Borders & Boundaries
Fat Wreck Chords

***After 20 years of dispensing some of the most memorable ska/punk around, touring the world like madmen, and bringing a party wherever they land, LESS THAN JAKE have cemented their status as kings of their genre. Primarily recognized for their blend of fun loving, wacky, high-energy ska/punk, LTJ are equally adept at writing socially relevant songs, and have always continued to progress musically. Never has this unique blend of song writing attributes been executed more perfectly than on their fourth studio album, Borders & Boundaries. Originally released in October of 2000, Borders & Boundaries is widely accepted as the band’s most popular album, as it embraced far more of the punk side of the ska/punk genre, while boasting some of the catchiest melodies the band has ever written. 12 years down the road Less Than Jake decided it was time to pay homage to this pinnacle release in their career. In order to do a rerelease fitting of the original, the band spruced it up with some bonus material, added a DVD, and gave the cover art and liner notes a bit of a makeover. The updated version of Borders & Boundaries includes never before heard demo versions of 3 of the most prized tracks from the album, filling out the track list at a robust 18 songs. The bonus DVD (included with both the cd and vinyl formats) is a live performance of the original album in its entirety.

Self Entitled by NOFX

NOFX

Self Entitled
Fat Wreck Chords

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Note new price. After more than a quarter century as a band, not only are NOFX not slowing things down, but they’re actually getting more aggressive. It’s like they’ve got some sort of Benjamin Button shit going on. Self Entitled is NOFX’s 12th (!!!) studio full-length, yet it feels as potent as any material they’ve ever released. Rather than drifting off into a land of forgettable and mindless rehashes of their older material like many other veteran acts, NOFX approached Self Entitled with a reinvigorated virility. The 12 tracks fully embrace the hostile early LA punk sound while maintaining just the right amount of that trademark technical and melodic sound that NOFX is renowned for. As with all NOFX albums, the subject matter on Self Entitled is diverse (politics, religion, S&M, etc.), but there is a more cohesive mood this time around. The majority of the songs display a more personal perspective from Fat Mike, which lends a more intimate feeling to the album overall. There is little question about what has separated NOFX as an enduring force in independent music, and more specifically, as an institution in the punk scene for so long. Their hallmark sound and style matched with their ability to keep things fresh is unparalleled among their peers. Self Entitled is a testament to these qualities and is yet another credit to their legacy.

Poets Were My Heroes by Morning Glory

Morning Glory

Poets Were My Heroes
Fat Wreck Chords

***MORNING GLORY first became the spark of an idea back in 2001 when EZRA KIRE (LEFTOVER CRACK, CHOKING VICTIM, INDK) took time off from touring and started to write and record some songs in his NYC apartment. Built on the backbone of ska, punk, crust, metal, much like his other work, the songs Ezra wrote for Morning Glory served as an outlet for the expanded spectrum of his songwriting. Though, with all the other bands and endless touring, Morning Glory never evolved very far from its fledgling stages. Until now. Armed with years of new material, Ezra decided to finally give Morning Glory the attention it deserved, regrouping the live band with a new line up including EARLY GATES on drums, “METAL” CHRIS on bass, SHAWN GARDINER and ADAM SCHRAGER on guitar, and spending months in the studio under the production of JESSE CANNON (The Menzingers, Saves the Day). The result is their debut Fat Wreck release, as well as their first studio full-length, Poets Were My Heroes. This epic album is a sonic kaleidoscope of punk noise melding strings, horns, choirs, pianos and organs over a web of distorted guitars and marching, single kick pedal drums. It is both grand and elaborate, with each song evoking a different mood and style, challenging the musicianship of even the most dexterous players, while still maintaining its punk-inspired simplicity and catchy anthemic sound throughout. Beyond the music itself, the message of the songs on Poets Were My Heroes differential themselves from the...
