***Remastered and reissued vinyl version of what should've been one of the first 10 records you ever bought. Named as a reference to some of Freud's ideas concerning sexuality, this release marked something of a departure from the somewhat macho, hardcore punk image that The Feeding of the 5000 & Stations of the Crass had given the group. Featuring more obviously complex musical arrangements, this release showcases exclusively female vocals provided by EVE LIBERTINE and JOY DE VIVRE. The album addressed feminist issues and once again attacked the institutions of "the system" such as marriage and sexual repression.

***"Stations of the Crass is the second album by CRASS, released in 1979. The record, originally released as a double 12", includes live tracks from a gig recorded at the Pied Bull pub in Islington, London, on August 7, 1979. The first three sides contain the studio tracks and play at 45 rpm, while the final side comprises the live material and plays at 33 rpm. The album's title is not only a pun on the Catholic rite of the Stations of the Cross (such jibes against the religious establishment were typical of Crass), but is also a reference to the graffiti campaign that the band had been conducting around London's underground railway system, the cover artwork depicting a wall at Bond Street tube station that had allegedly been 'decorated' by them. Although the album met mixed critical reception at first, it managed to sell at least 20,000 copies within two weeks.”

***The sixth release in the Crassical Collection reissues. CRASS member PENNY RIMBAUD fills in the gaps—"'Ten Notes On A Summer's Day' nudged itself towards modern European atonality, and us completely out of the rock'n'roll arena. In this sense, it truly was a swansong."

***CRASS' fifth album comes in the original fold-out poster sleeve. Originally released in April of 1983, Yes Sir, I Will was a howl full of vicious rage and fury, a scream of sorrow, a bitter requiem of betrayal and disenfranchisement. It was a letter-bomb of accusations directed at the British establishment, with it's title taken from a conversation between the then Prince Charles and gruesomely wounded veteran Simon Weston. Musically the work is as diverse and challenging as Crass had yet delivered—a raging and almost free-form improvised backdrop over which STEVE IGNORANT, EVE LIBERTINE & JOY DE VIVRE trade off vocally throughout—veering from ferocious roars and rants to piano ballad interludes sung by PENNY RIMBAUD.

***This tune, a PSA about how-not-to-behave at Mardi Gras, was originally released by Houma Records in the 80s as a B side to "Weld This Broken Heart (Roughneck Blues)", another Bobby M.G. original. Houma was one of many small "Swamp Pop" labels in the area at that time. There is still not much known about Bobby M.G. (the "M.G." stands for Mardi Gras) other than the fact that he originally hails from Joplin Missouri and lived in Houma for about 10 years working in the oil industry. It was there that he met his future wife Bobbie and started performing with her under this band name. Houma Records original owner, Anthony "Rod" Rodrigue discovered the group performing at the wedding of a mutual friend. The Houma Record label is now run by Rodrigue's son Anthony "AJ" Rodrigue. The town of Houma, where the label began and still remains, was named for the Native American tribe who originally populated that region of Southeast Louisiana. Unfettered by studio time limitations with their own home base of Echo Canyon, SYR 2 shows Sonic Youth chasing the shadows of predecessor SYR 1 and the series' distinct aesthetic: total exploration of freedom and further discovery. While the cover art evokes European contempo classical releases of yore, Sonic Youth distinctively reinvent their own personal output potential the way those kinds of records revolutionized a previously defined genre. Their ethos of utilizing the roots of the Ramones, Television, VU, Stooges, and No Wave to shape their first decade now find the band in later years bullet-pointing fascination in AMM, MEV, improvised music, free jazz and other outer-limit/organic refractions of traditional rock. While Sonic Youth's spontaneous-creation moments had long been showcased in their recordings, Peel Sessions, and live, SYR 2 sums up the band's state in 1997: rolling lots of tape, fine-tuning ideas and presenting great moments of exciting new directions, allowing deep-listener type fans to gain better insight into their sound process. Add to that the alchemy of Jim O'Rourke's gradual entry into the core band which would soon be fully on display for SYR 3, and this series is an X-ray of evolution, dissection and reconstruction.

Note new price. The first ever recordings of FRED MCDOWELL. Recorded by ALAN LOMAX in 1959. The first vinyl release dedicated entirely to this phenomenal recording session. Twelve songs that highlight the depth of his repertoire - from droning & hypnotic versions of songs that later became blues standards such as "Shake Em On Down" and "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" to his deeply felt renditions of spirituals like "Keep Your Lamp Trimmed & Burning." Accompanied at times by some amazing hair comb playing & beautiful backup vocals. The stuff of dreams. Received an 8.5 rating from Pitchfork.

***Back in print on BLUE vinyl!! Received a 7.8 rating from Pitchfork. From the whip-like crack of Yako’s signature staccato vocals and impossible-to-memorize lyrics to the relentless overdrive tempo of their one-of-a-kind prog-core, Melt-Banana have long resided in a cybertopia of their own devising where the limits of technology and human capability are old-world concerns as quaint and cumbersome as bartering with a blacksmith. The demos for Fetch, their first studio album since the severely fried pop-punk of 2007’s Bambi’s Dilemma, were completed in March 2011, but the Fukushima earthquake changed everything, including their ability to concentrate on recording. Which stopped completely. Once they felt ready to return to their music, they decided to approach the songs on a sound-by-sound basis, choosing each tone with meticulous attention to detail, affirming their personal connections, being themselves naturally and openly. Fetch scrapes glam shimmers off punk’s outermost fringes and forges them into a rather intensely technical Deanscape packed with fantastical hybrids. Agata’s guitar riffs, seemingly composed in tandem with skipping CD players, are more bad-ass than ever, bright and fractured like the soundtrack for a CC-Hennix-scored biker flick. The album is juiced with electronics and post-rock production, tempering what could easily be a tiresome and predictable frenzy, yielding unexpected associations: Kate Bush climaxing on Walter White’s blue meth; demos of late-period Wire playing metal run through Wasp synthesizers and Autotune; unripe wild lychees keeping time on an Ankgor Wat tin roof during a monsoon. They’ve been performing live as...

Released just months after their debut album Dive, "Receiver" finds Lifeguard in a much different headspace. Colder and more direct than anything in their catalog, "Receiver" is the sound of the band fully coming into their own. Kai Slater and Asher Case’s guitars call, respond, and spider web across the track, centered on Isaac Lowenstein’s tasteful mid tempo beat. The splintered finale is the only time the song feels like it’s losing control, collapsing into its stuttered, feedback laced end. B side "Sun Ra Jane" oscillates between time signatures before opening up into a liminal zone that is truly the threshold of where Lifeguard have pushed their sound to date. A new sense of space and maturity saturates these songs, recorded and produced by the band at their Mixed Messages studio.

***ON LIMITED KELLY GREEN / SILVER MERGE VINYL!!! On earlier releases Hulder introduced her musical vision in primal form but with a direct sense of grimly melodic intent. Yet it was on debut album Godslastering: Hymns Of A Forlorn Peasantry that Hulder’s distinct penchant for crafting harsh anthems of mystical, invigorating grandeur and abyssic depth began to fully congeal. Throughout the album Hulder weaves the threads of various black metal strands together taking elements of pagan folk, ethereal symphonic majesty and the scraping raw melodicism of the most discordant and ghastly kind. Godslastering paints a vivid picture of lurking medieval darkness and long forgotten lineages plagued by disease and poverty, constantly under threat of armored plunderers with ill intent. In 2021 Hulder began the transformation into a live entity with a full backing band. And while plans exist to take the band far and wide throughout the world, musically Hulder remains the singular vision of its sole creator. First released in late 2020, Godslastering now sees domestic release for the first time via 20 Buck Spin, the band’s new label home.

***"In this day and age, it is highly unusual for a band to successfully and authentically channel the ancient sound of a highly-revered, but otherwise extinct scene in the metal world. One such seemingly irreplicable and legendary movement erupted in Brazil in the mid-1980s with an unmatched ferocity that birthed the likes of Sarcófago, Vulcano, Holocausto, Mutilator, and others of similar renown. Since then, it has been nearly unheard of for a band to establish itself by faithfully capturing the unmistakable sound pioneered by this iconic scene. However, there are always exceptions to rules, and one that has emerged to challenge such a paradigm has done so from the unlikely location of Leipzig, Germany. With its name itself a tribute to Vulcano’s 1986 debut, Bloody Vengeance has deliberately crafted its deadly weaponry of warfare noise over the past twelve-plus years. Nuclear War Now! and Bloody Vengeance first allied themselves to release a long-overdue vinyl version of the 2014 “Destruição Nuclear” album earlier this year. Composed of seven original tracks and two befitting covers of Sarcofago’s “Satanic Lust” and Mutilator’s “Believers of Hell,” this release served to reintroduce the Belo Horizonte scene to the legions of maniacs that saw it exclusively as a relic of the past. Now, less than a year later, Bloody Vengeance and NWN! have conspired again to bring forth “Ruido de Guerra,” the second full-length installment in the band’s arsenal. Like its predecessor, “Ruido de Guerra” recalls Bloody Vengeance’s adoptive ancestry of Brazilian deathcore, rife with the...

Naarm / Melbourne, Australia has been churning out reliable punk rock since the likes of The Chosen Few and Rowland S. Howard were kicking about in the late ’70s. Split System are a band that carry on this tradition into the 21st century. Cooked up behind the scenes in the COVID lockdowns, they seemingly came out of nowhere but sounded like they’d been slamming beers to Saints and Radio Birdman records together and playing gigs for many years. Their Vol. 2 is unmistakable Aussie high voltage proto-punk. In their short time on the scene they have demonstrated a knack for combining muscular street punk with classic rock hooks. Their debut album Vol. 1 and follow up 7-inch were described as ferocious and powerful records with amphetamine swagger. They’re high energy and don’t believe in muddy guitar tones. The band are in their element during their raw live shows. They have shared bills with the likes of Amyl & The Sniffers, Cosmic Psychos, Civic, Bad//Dreems, Hard-Ons, CLAMM, Cable Ties & C.O.F.F.I.N.

***ON LIMITED BLUE MARBLE VINYL!!! Montréal’s Phobocosm continue their career-spanning collaboration with Dark Descent Records with third full-length Foreordained. Foreordained is an amalgamation of everything that came before it. A perfectly balanced fusion of the murky death metal depravity of debut Deprived, blended with the devastating doom of Bringer Of Drought. Remarkably, this was the plan all along: “When we wrote Deprived, we decided that our first three albums would be a trilogy, so Foreordained is the last chapter of that trilogy. We made a conscious effort to pace all three albums in a similar manner, since we wanted them to be linked—starting with a slow, crushing doom song and concluding with a long, epic, depressive one. It’s not a coincidence,” reveals guitarist Samuel Dufour. As their genre of choice would suggest, Foreordained’s lyrical concepts are about death, as well as the futility of denying one’s inherent mortality. Hence the name of the album; meaning predestined, inevitable: “Since death is unavoidable, the end of all life and of our planet is also unavoidable, so there are apocalyptic themes also. The closer ‘For an Aeon’ is about a possible way the world as we know it could end.” Wrapped in artwork by the inimitable Lauri Laaksonen of Desolate Shrine, Convocation and Pestilent Hex fame, Foreordained is set to be a 2024 death metal highlight.

***ON LIMITED YELLOW VINYL!!! A full-length offering of Sovereign’s lethal blend of evil death / thrash is set to be unshackled via Dark Descent Records! Formed in Oslo 2018 AD, the band have three releases under their belts: Iron Cast (single 2018), Sovereign (demo, 2019), and Neurotic (EP, 2020). Three years in the making, the time has finally come to complete the set with debut album Altered Realities. A monstrous masterwork of old school extreme metal ecstasy. “Altered Realities is a product of an ever-evolving journey we have taken as a band, from our start in 2018 and culminating in the album’s recording in early 2022,” reflects lead guitarist Tommy Jacobsen. He is joined in the band by former Nocturnal Breed band-mate Vidar Fineidet (guitar), alongside drummer Cato Syversrud, and bassist / vocalist Gravskjender. “We strive to push ourselves, both in terms of speed and technicality, whilst still keeping a groove and dynamic. Our approach to death / thrash is an interplay between fast-paced aggression and a slower, more groove-oriented feel. The lyrical themes of the album mirror events and unrest that happened during the time of writing and is in itself a journey.”

Spectral Voice’s Sparagmos unfolds as a momentous second full-length offering under the banner of Dark Descent Records, marking the culmination of a period devoted to katabatic immersion into the material. The title itself, alluding to the Dionysian rite of being torn limb from limb, sets the stage for a profound exploration of life, death, and the untamed essence within. “The content of the album oscillates between lamentation and exaltation. An immersive, morbid atmosphere of funereality longs for the liberation of death and mourns the agony of life. Coupled with moments of frenetic madness, grandeur, terror and ecstasy, the point we are trying to get to is the moment in which—through sacrifice—atavistic wildness is unleashed, and the ultimate exaltation of life through death is realized,” reflects drummer /vocalist E. Wendler. Influences drawn from the esoteric realms of death, black, doom metal, dark ambient, and arcane literature converge to shape Spectral Voice’s most realized manifestation. Featuring the sonic prowess of M. Kolontyrsky (guitar), P. Riedl (guitar), and J. Barrett (bass)—also of Blood Incantation fame—alongside the drummer / vocalist E. Wendler, Spectral Voice weave a sonic tapestry with a level of excellence that surpasses even their own formidable standards. Sparagmos unquestionably stands as a definitive death metal highlight of 2024.

“I found this on the ground / and I thought of you,” hums Grace Schmidhauser as the first track unfurls on Or Best Offer’s debut album. It’s a deceptively sophisticated mission statement and a perfect introduction to the band’s universe, one where the mundane suggests the holy, where moments of intimacy become tokens of the cosmic. The experimental rock duo made up of primary songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Schmidhauser, and drummer and synthesist Brian Culligan, work with a sense of ceaseless wonder and invention, moving between instruments and technique with fluidity and intuition. But the humble consolation suggested by the band’s name belies what is actually a remarkably uncompromising sound, one given to sudden bursts of raw electric energy and total abstraction. Based, intermittently, between Brooklyn, Providence, and Chicago, the duo has found increasing notoriety for their arresting live performances, which project immersive electronics against muscular, cathartic performance. After years of collaboration in various forms since their initial meeting in 2018, Or Best Offer’s debut album Center arrives as both a document of and extrapolation on their live sound. The album was created and mixed during a period of geographical transition for Schmidhauser, and fittingly, the world of Center has a unique physics and an unstable gravity, as prone to sudden weightlessness as it is brute force. Recorded and produced by the two entirely in Culligan’s Ridgewood bedroom, Center takes a sensitive, loving approach to its materials with both molecular precision and widescreen grandeur. Distorted ribbons of Wurlitzer twirl against...

***ON LIMITED GOLD / BONE MERGE VINYL!!! The hauntingly grandiose new Hulder album Verses In Oath, created during the dreariest cold months of the Northwest winter, constitutes the most majestic, untamed manifestation thus far in the band’s journey of conquest, as new territory is put to flame and conquered by sword and shield. A pivotal 2022 saw Hulder release The Eternal Fanfare, a five track mini-album, marking a new phase in the project’s rapid development. Further to Hulder’s audial ascendency, the band set the live stage ablaze, touring widely in North America throughout the year and into 2023, which brought the band to European shores for the first time as well. Spurred on by these noble victories the ground was prepared for the immensity of Verses In Oath. Tracked by Hulder in the Northwest, the mix and master was entrusted to cult legend Ahti Kortelainen of Tico Tico Studios in Finland, whose overwhelming list of credits stretch back decades to include Barathrum, Belial, Impaled Nazarene and Moonsorrow among countless others. The result is both unsparingly savage and wistfully evocative; black blood on white snow. The ancient sorrow-filled melancholy and seething spirit that are the essence of “Hearken The End” permeate the entire album, by now a fundamental detail in Hulder’s identity, where roots run deep in long forgotten soil. And whilst the slashing cruelty and torn flesh of “Vessel Of Suffering” and “Enchanted Steel” embrace a predatory barbarism, it is the joining of all those elements that places Verses In...

Delicate and beautiful music from the combined forced of the recently ubiquitous East-Coast psychedelic combo Elkhorn and Pelt’s Mike Gangloff, laying down two epic raga-like performances captured on a 2022 collaborative tour. Gangloff—fresh from the triumph of his VHF solo fiddle album Evening Measures—has found a distinct instrumental voice, blending drone music and trad influences in way that really advances the tradition into new areas. “East Dauphin Suite” builds patiently on the interlocking acoustic guitars of the Elkhorn duo, with Gangloff’s hardanger fiddle carrying the melody over the top. The sound is a neat riff on American primitive, with just enough Appalachian-style touches via Gangloff’s careful glissandos cutting through the Vuh-type chords and patterns to create a unique and supremely melodic hybrid. “Summerfield Raga” takes things further out, with more microtonal variation in the embroidery, with assertive bowing and an increased energy level. Pressed in Chicago and housed in an amazing jacket by Jake Blanchard.

The 1967 Impulse Records legendary Funk/Soul Instrumental masterpiece album Chicken Fat. If you haven’t heard Chicken Fat yet, get ready because the LP won’t leave your turntable until your jaw stops hitting the floor. Sourced from the original analog master tapes by Kevin Gray. All Analog Process (AAA) Initially working as a guitar player for such greats as Sonny Boy Williamson & Etta James, Impulse Records eventually offered Mel Brown the chance to record his own material. Recorded in 1967 in Hollywood, CA, for the Impulse record label, Brown amassed a group of session musicians who had played with Charles Mingus, Marvin Gaye, and Dizzy Gillespie. Much of the album was arranged by Oliver Nelson, who worked with Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Jimmy Smith and more. His touch is felt all over the record and helps solidify the journey. These recording sessions also reflected the Sunset Strip and the energy of late ‘60s Los Angeles so incredibly, you can almost hear the go-go boots hit the floor to dance til they drop.

In 1962, legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans collaborated for the first time on record with jazz guitarist Jim Hall to create the landmark album Undercurrent. And even though it is a two-person improvisational affair, it is almost unfathomable that these two giants alone fill up all the grooves on this record. The thoughtful interplay between these two musicians created such a beautiful, lush, and emotional journey that their work influenced many. At the time of this recording, Bill Evans was one of the top jazz pianists (his performance with Miles Davis on Kind Of Blue is still a high-water mark), but he had stopped performing and recording after the death of his peer, bassist Scott LaFaro. Eventually, he was persuaded to return to music, and this was one of the first recordings upon his return. Guitarist Jim Hall - who had worked with Ella Fitzgerald, Sonny Rollins, and Chico Hamilton - started his partnership with Evans during this time. Recorded over two sessions in April and May 1962, the two have that beautifully unspoken musical language of give and take; their recordings are refreshingly busy but also incredibly sparse. These two giants understand that intertwining their personalities and harmonic styles could create greatness. This notable re-issue is an all-analog production affair—AAA Mastered and cut live by audio guru Kevin Gray (Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Charles Mingus)—and it’s never sounded better. So dim the lights and let this music breathe with you; it’s an incredible listen and an essential album for...

***From the moment they started 15 years ago, Mean Jeans have been creating their own slime punk fantasy world. Study their six previous album covers and you’ll find junkyards full of bongs and yo-yos, macaroni galaxies, Jägermeister spaceships, alien saxophonists and pink slugs in bondage dripping ooze. On their newest full-length album Blasted, the goofball trio have clearly been through wild years and seen some shit—on the cover, the three members peer out of toxic waste bins, no longer cartoons of themselves but instead incredulous country-fried maniacs who are still following a slime punk dream, and dealing with where it’s led them. Which isn’t to say the Jeans are jaded. In fact, the band seem to be having as much fun as ever on this record, ripping through these 15 rapid fire ear worms without coming up for air. They seem equally focused on tight catchy songwriting and packing in Easter eggs and absurd lyrical references. This record is a frantic and frenetic joyride. This energy was no doubt enhanced by the fact the band recorded Blasted all by themselves. At their own behest, the trio were left entirely to their own devices, putting themselves through their own physical paces by trying to be in two places—the control room and the recording room—at once. As singer/guitarist Billy Jeans puts it, “It's idiotic, but when it's just the three of us fucking around, the vibe is there.” You can hear that all throughout Blasted. ***Terry’s follow-up to his fantastic 1975 album Fatsticks will finally be heard! Blue Redondo was recorded during 1977-1978 after he had relocated from London to El Segundo, California and still owed his label another album. They passed on the material and the tapes sat in storage until the early 2000s when Terry had the material pressed onto short run CDs to sell at his local solo gigs and via mail order. This the first time any of the tunes have been available on vinyl, lovingly recovered from the original master tapes by Jessica Thompson and mastered by Sean M. Lennon. This is somehow drinking music and “Sunday morning coming down” music at the same time. Terry puts on a master class in songwriting over these twelve tracks. Pairs perfectly with our double album of Terry’s home demos Twenty Rough Rotters. Fact. Simply put, Terry is one of the most underrated songwriters of the past 50 years. He got his start in the early 60s playing bass for Mike Rabin and The Demons, the house band at the Wimbledon Palais, supporting the likes of The Kinks and The Rolling Stones. After the Palais closed, he was hired as a songwriter for Schroeder Music in ‘68. He soon connected with Jim Avery (ex-Attack, Thunderclap Newman) and formed the axis of underground heroes, Third World War, the best bit of aggro ever, pre-figuring the UK Punk explosion by a good five years. Jim Jones And The Kool-Ade Kids are not what they seem…there are no Jims involved, nor are any of the members partial to said flavored drink mix (but more on that below)...and then there’s the heaviness… oh Lord the heaviness! Unlike what the band tag might suggest, the unsuspecting listener is served crushing sounds reminiscent of Dream Death, Hellhammer, Winter, and even Possessed. A grinding cross-over brew of sludgy proto-death metal, thrash, and hardcore-punk awaits! First released back in 1986, Dark Descent Records have truly dug up a lost Michigan gem! “We formed as a hardcore band, which should be obvious from the name,” explains guitarist Paul Pretzer. “Like many our age, we started out loving bands like Black Sabbath, but found hardcore as we searched for music that was more aggressive and urgent, and that we felt we could relate to more as far as socially relevant themes and topics, stuff with which we could identify. By the time we were writing and recording Trust Me, I was just trying to combine my love of music like Black Sabbath, with that heaviness, with my love of bands like Battalion Of Saints, who were aggressive and raw.”
In 2022, Henry Rollins heard an early version of Dion Lunadon’s sophomore album Beyond Everything. He said it sounded like something that should be on In The Red Records. In The Red Records agreed. Now ITR are proud to announce the follow up, Systems Edge. Ten brand new original garage / punk rockers informed by the likes of Iggy, Thunders and late ’70s punk without sounding retro or by-the-numbers. This is seriously great stuff! Born in Auckland, New Zealand and now residing in New York City, Lunadon has played in various bands, most notably The D4 (who released two albums on the legendary Flying Nun label) and A Place To Bury Strangers.

***REISSUED ON VINYL!!! Talisman was originally released 1995 on Alastair Galbraith's own label Next Best Way. It was the debut CD on his imprint and has never been issued on vinyl. Having been charmed by this album since its release, Otic is proud to release this seminal work on vinyl for the first time. Featuring guest appearances by Nigel Bunn, Shayne Carter, and David Mitchell. (STREET DATE - 2/09/2024) "Talisman is probably Galbraith's first masterpiece, which builds upon the strengths of Plagal Grind, his previous release Morse and work with “A Handful of Dust.” It's darker, more experimental, but still blessed with the brittle beauty of Galbraith's most confessional sketches: the black bile of 'Policeman on Ether' is washed away forthwith by the soothing chords of 'Coast Road'."—audioculture

***The history of extreme metal in Italy cannot be told without acknowledging the primacy of Fingernails. Formed in Rome, in 1981, by guitarist and songwriter Maurizio “Angus” Bidoli, they started off playing more traditional heavy metal but swiftly shifted toward speed metal before they began recording. After a few years of local gigging, they unleashed a barrage of five demos between 1984 and 1987. Like their closest sonic antecedents, Motörhead and Tank, Fingernails operated as a three-piece, eschewing gimmickry and relying instead on raw passion and unadorned instrumentation. By the time they entered the studio to record their self-titled debut for Cobra Records, they had finely tuned their sound: a lethal speedball of rock n’ roll depravity, manic thrash, punk rock recklessness, and Italian street metal sleaze, delivered with venomous precision. Accompanying Bidoli for the LP were drummer Ricky “Duracell” Lipparini, who played on the demos, and Chris Bianco—known for his work in the heavy metal band Raff. The album captures perfectly their lewd belligerence, with the debauched carnality of Bidoli’s guitars and vocals driven by the prowling, predatory aggression of the bass and drums. After its release in 1988, Cobra Records failed to pay the royalties it owed the band pursuant to their agreement, and, before long, the label went under, leaving the record under-promoted and poorly distributed. Amid the waning popularity of speed metal catalyzed by the rapid ascent of death and black metal, as well as grunge, Fingernails could not get a foothold in the scene, and...

***Nuclear War Now! Productions is proud to bring together three underground Japanese metal extremists for The Pact of Sex, Evil and Death. A three-way split featuring SEX MESSIAH, EVIL and IMMORTAL DEATH, this record documents three of the most evil bands working today. Sex Messiah offers three tracks of insane bestial black metal with a sadistic recklessness that recalls “I.N.R.I.”-era Sarcofago. Frontwoman MOENOS' vocals are scathing and spectral, with two of the three tracks recorded live at NWN! Fest Vol. VI. Tokyo’s Evil follow with their unique bestial onslaught, mixing speed-obsessed ferocity with classic metal sensibilities. A standout band, Evil balances truly relentless bestial black metal against tasteful hard-rock riffing with aplomb, with pentatonic solos that bring to mind '70s Judas Priest as much as they do '80s South American black metal. Immortal Death finishes the split with twisted, necrotic death metal, once again courtesy of total maniac Moenos (Sex Messiah). With a raw production and pervasive sense of morbidity, Immortal Death mixes Atrax Morgue-style death ambience with crushing heaviness that solidifies this split as an essential document for fans of extreme music. The Pact of Sex, Evil and Death. is a worthy addition to the canon of classic metal compilations and is not to be missed. First pressing of 500 copies housed in gatefold jackets. Includes A4 double-sided inserts and A2 posters.

***Finland’s WITCHCRAFT have spent the past decade unleashing a series of demos and splits that feature some of the most diabolical black and death metal to emerge in years. In the vein of legends such as Beherit, Blasphemy and Barathrum, Witchcraft play raw, bestial black metal with a total devotion to darkness, from the uncompromising brutality of their music to the necrotic quality of the recordings themselves. NWN! Productions is proud to present Bestial Vociferation, a compilation of previously unreleased rehearsal and demo recordings from 2015-2018. These tracks display an unnerving ferocity from a band who does not simply mimic their influences but injects a manic intensity into the music that makes them worthy successors to the aforementioned hordes. The vocals are exceptionally barbaric, adding a thick layer of cruelty to the already violent atmosphere inherent in the music. The occasional moan of funereal organ further enhances the aura of pure evil, solidifying Witchcraft’s status as one of the most devastating bestial black metal bands today. First pressing of 500 copies. Includes a 12-inch double-sided insert.
