***"VC3 is—you guessed it—the third LP from San Francisco’s VIOLENT CHANGE, a brand new collection of hazy pop channeled through submarine-fidelity noise. If you were among the fans of their previous records, this remains heavily dissociative music; if it helps to paint the picture, the live band now includes members of Bay Area favorites RAYS and LIFE STINKS, though these recordings here are a whole different grade of barbiturate. Still, take note: from the opening notes of the second track, 'Unit A,' it’s immediately apparent that bandleader GLADYS BIEYLE has learned to let his melodic brilliance shine. This is Violent Change’s real pop moment, an album of lonesome romanticism on par with Shoes’ One In Versailles and Chris Bell’s I Am The Cosmos. I kid you not, this record is that good. A co-release of Melters and It Take Two."

***OLD GRAVES are a band from British Columbia, Canada that plays an atmospheric form of black metal with some folk and doom metal elements. "Acoustic guitars start off the album and they also give the music a progressive and folk music feeling and after a minute the music goes into more of a dark, heavy and melodic direction and the vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams and synths are also brought into the music at times. Throughout the recording the music alternates between both the heavy and acoustic parts while a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the songs also bring in a lot of modern atmospheric and post black metal elements and the guitar solos and leads bring in a very dark and melodic style. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw black metal feeling and there are also a couple of instrumentals which also shows the synths incorporating more ambient elements and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while some of the slower riffs are influenced by doom metal. Old Graves creates a recording that is still very heavily rooted in the atmospheric black metal style while also adding in more folk music elements this time around, the production sounds very raw yet powerful at the...

***Formed in Spring 2016, the trio that makes up TEACH ME, old friends JEREMY ROJAS, ANDREW MONTOYA, and TOMMY GARCIA came together in a flash, banging out six songs in a week for a friend’s birthday party (Cory Stiers of Mrs. Magician/Cults/Thrill Me Records). When BEN MOORE, producer extraordinaire behind all three Hot Snakes Records and other releases by the likes of Metz, Swami John Reis and the Blink Shake, Rocket from the Crypt, Pinback, and scores of others, happened to catch this first performance, he was immediately struck and invited the boys to come record in his studio soon, with two of those recordings, “Collector” and “Pup Pup,” making up this first release.

***East Wall was an Italian electronic dark wave band formed by Fabrizio Chiari (ex keyboardist of Kirlian Camera) and Wilma Notari in 1982. After a series of demos and live performances, the duo recruited Angelo Bergamini of Kirlian Camera to help with arrangement and synthesizers. In September 1984 they booked a recording time at Master Studio 33 in Cremona Italy. Working with produced Ray Masola, they recorded their debut single “Eyes Of Glass”, which was released on No Comment in early 1985. The equipment set up was a PPG Wave 2, Roland ProMars, Roland Juno 60, Simmons drum, and an upright piano. “Eyes Of Glass” is an outstanding example of 1980s Italo disco full of dark, moody atmosphere and depth. Wilma Notari’s coy vocals cast a spell on the listener as she weaves a story about lost love and “bitter tears”. Included here are the original extended 12” mix and instrumental version with mid-song breakdown and dubbed out chorus. All songs are remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Housed in the original jacket featuring a photo of a boy by Pushe 27. Each copy includes a 2-sided postcard with photos of the band, lyrics, and liner notes by Flemming Dalum.

***East Wall was an Italian electronic dark wave band started by Fabrizio Chiari (ex keyboardist of Kirlian Camera) and Wilma Notari in 1982. After a series of demos and live performances, the duo recruited Angelo Bergamini of Kirlian Camera to help with arrangement and synthesizers. They released their debut single “Eyes Of Glass” in 1985 which had huge success in Germany, leading to a deal with ZYX. By 1991 the band consisted of Fabrizio Chiari (Synthesizer, Electronics, Keyboards), Tiziana Wells (Vocals, Synthesizer) and Angelo Bergamini (Synthesizer, Piano, Arrangement). At the beginning of the year, they recorded their next batch of songs at Prominence Studio in Cremona and A Love Sound Studio in Piacenza. "Silence" was self released by the band in 1991. The lead track “Silence” was a left-over song by Kirlian Camera recorded in 1985 with vocals by Simona Buja under the alias Lorenza Larini. It was recorded largely using a variety of now-classic Roland, Yamaha, and Oberheim synthesizers. The album displays East Wall’s maturity and unique aesthetics, with instrumental pieces reminiscent of Angelo Badalamenti’ Twin Peaks score. Tiziana Wells sings with pure emotion, hypnotic at times, upbeat and carefree at others. Frankie Teardrop (of the Wierd party and the Systems of Romance blog) describes this album as "possibly the closest thing to darkwave freestyle that exists.” We decided to expand the album, releasing it as a deluxe double LP cut louder at 45 RPM. We have also included an unreleased extended version of “Ice Of Fire”...

***Dark Entries is proud to release “Helden Platz”, a long out of print 12” maxi single from seminal Italian electronic act Kirlian Camera. Keyboardist/vocalist Angelo Bergamini founded the project in Parma in 1979 and named it after an electronic device that photographs the electromagnetic halo around objects and living beings. By 1980, Angelo had recruited singer Simona Buja, keyboardist Fabrizio Chiari, and bassist Mauro Montacchini. Their demo cassette, “Dawn”, attracted the attention of Italian Records, a popular independent label. Over the next few years the band would release their first mini-LP, “Kirlian Camera”, the full length “ It Doesn't Matter, Now”, and the singles “Communicate,” “Edges,” and “Blue Room”. The latter was a significant hit, eventually landing them a deal with Virgin Records. By 1987 the line up consisted of Angelo Bergamini on all instruments, Charlie Mallozzi on electronic drums and Simona Buja on vocals. Virgin wanted the band to provide another hit single in order to exploit the success of “Blue Room", refusing to release the band's less commercial material. In 1987 the band went Lark Studio at Carimate Castle, Italy to record with Italo disco producer Oderso Rubini. Thanks to the insistence of Bergamini, the label agreed to release “Helden Platz”, German for “Heroes' Square,” in 1987. The song features Kirlian Camera’s brand of dark wave, marked by haunting melodies, slow moving synth washes, and orchestral strings. The song features the stark, dramatic vocals of Simona Buja, who sings about the “Blue blood of Winter” in a...

***After the success of their debut EP, post-punk art rockers Y PANTS performed regularly in NYC and other East Coast venues. In 1981 they toured Europe for six weeks and upon return went into the studio to record their only LP, Beat It Down, released in 1982 on Neutral Records (Sonic Youth, Glenn Branca et al). The album extends the band’s signature pared down rollicking minimalism. The 10 songs are varied, using surprising and inventive instrumentation. The music is at once filled with a sense of longing and a fierce ironic rebellion. With exuberant precision they brandish their “toy” instruments and plaintive vocals in emotive expressions of female resistance. In dustedmagazine.com, Seth Watter wrote of the album, “I love the sprightly keyboards of ‘The Fly,’ the gentle lyricism of ‘Lulu,’ the anger of ‘Beat It Down’ that comes through in the music’s shambling, atonal jangle. The songs covered a huge range of emotions with an entirely new syntax.”

***"Y PANTS was a three-woman New York band: BARBARA ESS, ViRGiNIA (VERGE) PIERSOL and GAIL VACHONS, all visual artists. They played in clubs, galleries and performance spaces between 1979 and 1982. They were “as idiosyncratic, edgy, minimal, wry and literate as post-punk no wave got. Furthermore, the fact that these were three ferocious and formidable females was not to be overlooked.”—Wolfgang Staehle, Gail found a toy piano on the street and started jamming with Barbara on the ukulele. When they were invited to play a few weeks later at TR3 (the short-lived but influential downtown NY music club), they electrified their instruments and recruited the neophyte drummer Verge for percussion on a children’s drum set. Their first gig met with an unexpected wildly enthusiastic reception. The instrumentation was then rounded out with Barbara’s bass (former bands Daily Life and The Static), an African thumb drum, and a Casio keyboard for Gail. Verge’s initial Mickey Mouse toy kit soon fell apart and she cobbled together a modest trap set. They gained a following and soon recorded a four song EP produced by Glenn Branca for 99 Records. They often shared the stage with label mates the Bush Tetras, ESG, Liquid Liquid, Branca and other NYC “downtown” bands. This release includes their four-song debut EP and two songs never before available on vinyl: Magnetic Attraction (previously released on Tellus Audio Cassette), and the mysterious Kung Fu. In a NY Times review, John Rockwell wrote”…what really makes Y Pants a success is...

***Having been invited to perform at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland by one of the scientists, HIS NAME IS ALIVE spent a year studying particle physics and then created Patterns of Light. The scientist, Dr. James Beacham, was asked to "fact check for bad data, misquotes, dragons, pseudoscience and to make sure the witchcraft to physics ratio wouldn't be too embarrassing," he agreed and soon sent pages of notes, screenshots, event displayes and also recommended books and videos. Patterns of Light is the result of this exchange of information. The research focuses on dark matter, dark energy, the search for extra dimensions, mini-black holes and the machinery that collides particles at high speeds using thirteen teraelectronvolts but also studies the fundamental forces of nature as seen through the classic creation myths, the visionary theology of Hildegard Von Bingen, medieval manuscripts and cosmic maps, all in an effort to turn the physics back into poetry. Patterns of Light is His Name is Alive's 100th release since their first cassette in 1986. HNIA spent 13 years recording for the legendary label 4AD and sold 100,000+ records, toured the world, received gold and platinum records for soundtracking Tom Cruise's nervous breakdown in the movie Jerry Maguire and collaborated on two short films with famed animators the Quay Brothers.

NOW AVAILABLE ON RED VINYL WITH ALTERNATE COVER ART!!! Canada’s punk pioneers D.O.A. know when to take a stand against bullshit. So that’s why they came up with their instant new single Fucked Up Donald. Joey Shithead, the godfather of hardcore, recently said, “It did not take too long to realize that Donald Trump, with his anti-Mexican, anti-women, anti-people message, was just too much. You can dressup a pig, but in the end you realize it’s really just Donald Trump.” D.O.A. arranged a quick recording session with producer Cecil English (D.O.A., No Means No, Jello Biafra) and recorded this single in about fifteen minutes, a vitriolic take-off harkening to the band’s ’80s catalog. The now-released video has three million hits and counting—it just goes to show that you can’t keep a good band down. A healthy dose of “gonna kick you in the ass” punk, coupled with real conviction, Fucked Up Donald confirms D.O.A. will never stop taking on real crap that affects the entire world.

***"The realization strikes quickly; A Spell For The Death of Man is an atypical force. The haunting, oddly naked guitar that opens the record—perfectly painted in the 'Solitude' referenced in the track's title—is stark. Desolate. Profound, even. Mostly, it's real. A single guitar. Two minutes of truth or consequences. That's all that Woe needs to bury the seed. The seed grows. That solitary guitar morphs into a fiery wall of blasting, but halfway in, man... the violent revolution begins. WOE's manipulator, XOS, breaks the song open, driving it into a storm of dust with thick riffage and insane drumming. This is full-on, fuck-you hitting, turning the tide into a headbanging, jawbreaking tsunami of blackness. A Spell... is absolutely massive, wreaking havoc in a manner that few (if any) USBM bands have previous."—yourlastrites

***A rather deluxe reissue of this classic (as considered now) second LP by Edinburgh/London combo COUNTRY TEASERS, featuring tons of info on just how this LP came to be, plus the rather fucked-up story of a wee label flailing against the corrupt/inept accounting by Atlantic Records. Gatefold sleeve plus printed inner sleeve. And, most importantly: a READABLE sized BAND NAME upon a sticker attached to the shrink-wrap! Yes, my friends; A new 14-cut album from London´s finest, no doubt to cost Crypt more "garage/punk cred" within the ranks of those "hip". Well, believe me, I just spent 24 hours going thru a stack of over 200 demos from half-assed newly "hep" "garage" and "punk" bands and the Teasers cut a bold swath through alla these nouveau Caesars or D Dogs attempters, never mind alla these pissant surf/lo-fi/"trash" punkers with absolutely no fucking SUBSTANCE or originality. I will admit that the Teasers AIN´T yer "typical" Crypt "sound"; Hell, they almost fit in and could even appeal to "garage" hating "indie rock" types. SOME NOTES ON THE TUNES YE SHALL BE TREATED TO: Anyway, the alb kicks off with a noisey instrumental "intro", "THE WIDE-OPEN BEAVER OF NASHVILLE". Next up: the ALMOST "radio-friendly" "BLACK CHANGE" kicks in. Track 3 is an ode to the subtleties & innocent pleasures of "PANTY SHOTS". "IT IS MY DUTY": a charming, skipping treatise on the overly facistic feminism of now. Rather than apologize for any whining from the PC do-gooders, the next tune, a poignant...
