***NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! Mystifier's status as one of the most celebrated and respected black metal bands ever to have risen from the Brazilian underground is unchallenged. The band's recorded works extend back over thirty years to 1989, when the "Tormenting the Holy Trinity" demo was released. During the course of the ensuing four years, Mystifier recorded and released the "T.E.A.R. (The Evil Ascension Returns)" EP, the "Aleister Crowley" demo, and its first two full-lengths, "Wicca" and "Göetia." Each of these recordings documents the incremental steps that the band undertook in developing the infernal sound that it eventually perfected with the release of its second album. In reissuing these seminal recordings on all conventional formats, Nuclear War Now! is honored to resume the unholy alliance with Mystifier that was first established in 2008 with the release of the "Baphometic Goat Worship" vinyl box set. Continuing with the CD release of "Göetia," this new campaign of Mystifier reissues, to which the copyrights have been secured by NWN!, promises to keep these essential recordings available indefinitely.

***With its previous releases from the likes of Reencarnación and Nemesis, Nuclear War Now! has demonstrated its affinity to the “Ultra Metal” scene that was endemic to the city of Medellín, Colombia in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This strain of unhinged fury was spawned by the great Parabellum, who is recognized as the first extreme metal band to emerge from Colombia and one of the first from the entire continent of South America. Upon Parabellum’s disbandment in 1986, the similarly-styled Blasfemia was born. Founded by two members of Parabellum, Ramón Restrepo (vocals / bass) and Jhon Jairo Martínez (guitars), Blasfemia sought to outdo the rawness and brutality of its predecessor in a sound that reflected the harsh reality of existence in a place ruled unofficially but unequivocally by the sinister hand of a powerful drug cartel. To execute this vision, the two founding members called upon the services of neighborhood friend and percussionist Luis Fernando Cano. Between 1986 and 1988, Blasfemia performed live a handful of times with bands such as Reencarnación, Nemesis, Astaroth, Profanación, Necromantie, Glöster Gladiattor, Necrofilia, and others. It also recorded several demo tracks and, most notably, a four-song EP entitled “Guerra Total.” The EP was released on 12-inch vinyl format in two separate iterations by two different entities in 1988. The more limited version was apparently pressed on only 100 copies and is identified by its gray center labels, but it was not fully endorsed by all members of the band. The other edition,...

Dark Opera

Calling The Legend
Nuclear War Now

***In 1991, Dark Opera was formed in Łódź, Poland, the very same city in which the band’s compatriots of similar ilk in Pandemonium had united approximately two years earlier. Dark Opera’s first year of existence was plagued by several lineup changes, but it stabilized later that year when the band began to write its own songs and played its first live gig in Łomża. The following April, Dark Opera recorded its first demo, “The Day of Pariah,” at Ariadna Studio in Łódź. Originally, this cassette was self-released, but the band was later signed by Carnage Records, who released a second iteration of the tape with alternate artwork. In 1993, the band added a second guitarist and recorded its first and only album, “Calling the Legend,” in April of that same year. Like the demo that had preceded it, the album was released by another Polish label, Baron Records, who made it available on cassette format only. Like the aforementioned Pandemonium, Dark Opera’s music was reminiscent of the great Samael and others like Alastis and Taranis, but it also incorporated a somewhat greater influence from both death and doom metal. Nuclear War Now! is proud to be the first to reissue both Dark Opera recordings on vinyl and thus continue its neverending objective of rekindling the great fires once set and then left unattended in the most obscure caverns of the underground.

***Nuclear War Now! proudly continues its well-established objective of reissing Sabbat’s impressive catalog of studio albums for the North American market with this release of “The Dwelling” on DLP format. Whereas each of the first four Sabbat full-lengths were released in consecutive years, almost two years passed in the interim between the releases of “Fetishism” in 1994 and “The Dwelling”in 1996. This additional time between releases is fully justified in the attention to detail paid in the composition of this masterpiece. As the band’s fifth album, “The Dwelling” represents the culmination of the band’s songwriting evolution in a single, hour-long track that journeys through every manifestation of its trademarked Japanese blacking metal. As with NWN’s previous Sabbat reissues, one can expect the best in terms of its audial and visual presentation. This version is complete with the original artwork by Juha Vuorma (see Beherit “Demonomancy” cover, etc.), and the music is recorded on three sides of a double LP, with a screen-printed Side D, as with previous Sabbat album reissues. Once again, the band and label have brilliantly conspired to bring new life to the classic recordings of one of the most celebrated black metal cults.

Thus Spake Zaratustra by Xantotol

Thus Spake Zaratustra
Nuclear War Now

***While their output was limited to just two demos and a single album, Xantotol have maintained a cult status in the quarter century since the band’s dissolution. Formed in 1991 by drummer Jacek “Venom” Szczepański and female guitarist and vocalist Mała, while they were still in high school, Xantotol were among the vanguard of Poland’s Satanic elite in the early days of the Polish black metal movement. Inspired by the likes of Venom, Bathory, Samael, Necromantia, and a host of other obscure metal the teenagers encountered through avid tape-trading, Xantotol developed a style of black metal that was at once primitive, brooding, and atmospheric. At first, Szczepański attempted to provide vocals, but it quickly became apparent to them both that Mała had the better voice. At the time, there were few, if any, black metal bands that featured female vocalists. The extreme economic conditions Poland experienced at that time due to the slow decay of the communist regime profoundly impacted the band’s sound. They relied on cheap equipment and could only rehearse a couple times per week in a room they rented at the local culture center. Despite or perhaps because of these limitations, the band’s first two demos—“Glory For Centuries” (1991) and “Cult of the Black Pentagram” (1993)—were primordial paeans to the particular strain of Nietzschean Satanism that deeply influenced Szczepański and Mała. It was around this same time that Szczepański founded the Satanic organization Fullmoon Foundation, which later evolved into the notorious Temple of Fullmoon. In 1995, Xantotol...

Intercourse And Lust
Nuclear War Now

***REiSSUED!!! Japan’s ABIGAIL has been a flagship band in the NWN! camp since the beginning of the label’s existence. In the more than 20 years of Abigail’s existence the bands has undergone a noticeable stylistic evolution from sinister Yakuza Black Metal to the band’s later period of sexualcoholic Street Metal Thrash. Up until the mid-1990s, Abigail was known exclusively for its Black Metal sound and ranked alongside Sabbat and Sigh among Japan’s most evil exports. The handful of demos Abigail released between 1992 and 1996 saw Abigail ushering in its malefic strain of Black Metal and securing for the band a prominent position among the elite bands within the genre’s Second Wave emanation. Abigail’s debut album, released by Modern Invasion in 1996, highlights the manner in which Abigail infused its traditionalist Black/Thrash approach with eccentric embellishments. The album, Intercourse and Lust, stands as a monument to the Far East Black Metal sound. When NWN! was still in its infancy, YK Insulter reached out to Abigail to seek approval to commit this legendary album to vinyl. Abigail agreed and, in 2002, NWN! released the LP, which became one of the first and most highly regarded releases on the label. Later that year, with the assistance of NWN!, Abigail made its first landing on U.S. soil and committed unholy acts before American audiences – monumental gigs that secured Abigail’s prominence in the West. Intercourse and Lust has stood the test of time and is as relevant in 2013 as it was when...

Primeval Devilish Wisdom
Nuclear War Now

***Hailing from the improbable location of Lexington, Kentucky, APOCHRYPHAL REVELATION conspires with Nuclear War Now! to release Primeval Devilish Wisdom, the band’s second album and its first recording since 2017’s Reverence for the Kings of Hell. Although the band’s previous output has to a certain extent languished in obscurity, Primeval Devilish Wisdom succeeds in fully establishing Apochryphal Revelation’s manifestation of black metal as one that is sure to draw comparisons to both that which was propagated by the old Unisound Records label roster and that of the Brazilian legends, Mystifier. These thirteen tracks, among which are interspersed several shorter instrumental hymns to darkness, achieve a potent, atmosphere-rich sound, which owes itself in equal parts to convincing songwriting, prodigious riffs, skillful leads, judicious use of keyboards, harrowing vocals, and cavernous production. The grand sum of these contributions results in a recording that is worthy of its mention with reverence towards the aforementioned greats that undoubtedly inspired it.

The Oath Of Black Blood by Beherit

Beherit

The Oath Of Black Blood
Nuclear War Now

NWN! is honored to release this definitive reissue of The Oath of Black Blood. Often regarded as the first BEHERIT album, The Oath of Black Blood is a compilation of Beherit’s Demonomancy demo and the Dawn of Satan’s Millennium EP, both of which were originally released in 1990. Beherit never intended for these recordings to be released as a compilation LP; a dispute with their label, Turbo Music, resulted in the label’s unilateral decision to compile the earlier recordings rather than wait for a proper album of new material, as Beherit intended. Nevertheless, for many people, The Oath of Black Blood was their introduction to Beherit, causing many to assume it was recorded as a proper album. Both Demonomancy and Dawn of Satan’s Millennium represent inflection points in Beherit’s evolution. Picture LP with clear rim and a photo of Nuclear Holocausto on side B. Housed in 3mm jackets printed on thick cardstock. Includes 12" insert and 24"x24" poster of the cover art.

These tracks document the band’s original sound, which is best characterized as an unpolished, abrasive variety of black metal, in contrast to the sharper, more thrash-oriented sort that has resulted from the band’s evolution. ***BACK IN STOCK!!! First established in 1992, Intellect Devourer has long been granted cult status in the Australian metal underground. Playing a uniquely extreme style of technical death metal, the band recorded a single, “Prayer to Thessaly,” in 1993, and a three-song demo, “Horselustvulgaris,” in 1994. However, the band dissolved that same year, and drummer Denny Blake went on to form the great StarGazer, whose work would gain much more recognition in the decades that have since passed. Other projects of Blake’s, such as Misery’s Omen, Martire, and Cauldron Black Ram, have also gone on to reach wider international audiences than Intellect Devourer. That fact notwithstanding, Intellect Devourer reformed with most of its original members for a brief stint from 1999-2001, during which time the band produced a second demo, “Mundus Intellectualis,” a six-track affair that was the most significant recording to that point. More than ten years passed before the reformation leading to the band’s current iteration occurred in 2012. Now, nearly thirty years since Intellect Devourer’s inception, Nuclear War Now! is proud to present the vinyl LP version of the band’s first full-length, “Demons of the Skull.” Recently released on cassette by Caligari Records, this debut showcases the band’s precise brand of technical death metal, honed over the course of many decades and seasoned by the combined wealth of experience of its five members. ***Formed in Michigan during the late 80s, Lucifer’s Hammer was a prominent fixture in the Midwest underground, playing numerous regional gigs and routinely featured in the lineup of at Michigan Death-fest. The earliest incarnation of the band was more thrash-oriented, but as the band evolved, it gravitated toward a darker black/death metal sound. By the mid 1990s, Lucifer’s Hammer was part of a circle that included such bands as Summon, Masochist, and Wind of the Black Mountains, all of which at some point shared members with Lucifer’s Hammer. It proved to be among the most fertile scenes of early USBM around that time. Although Lucifer’s Hammer released two earlier demos, it was with their 1994 self-released tape, “The Burning Church,” that the band left its most enduring mark. Lucifer’s Hammer was among the first American bands to play death metal suffused with the atmospheric darkness and savage ferocity associated with the then-emerging black metal movement. On “The Burning Church,” the band plays relentless blackened death steeped in a miasma of blasphemy. Indeed, this demo is among the darkest death metal recordings of its time. Lucifer’s Hammer should be mentioned alongside bands like Profanatica, Demoncy, and Absu.

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Since the label’s early years, Nuclear War Now! has admired the work of Finnish metal mastermind Ari Honkonen (aka “Arska”). The artist and label first collaborated to release the 2005 Heathen Hoof EP, “The Occult Sessions.” Much more recently, the two conspired to issue the split “Pohjola” LP, featuring two of Arska’s bands, Perkele and Ironbird. It is now NWN!’s great pride to reissue the debut album of yet another of Arska’s quality projects—this time in the form of old school doom metal legends, Minotauri. This self-titled album was originally released in 2004 by the cult Italian label Black Widow, and has since been sold out and hard to find for many years. Founded in 1995, Minotauri recorded several demos, EPs, a live album, and a split before producing their culminating effort in this first full-length. Minotauri’s style is one of a unique heavy doom metal, which infuses elements of NWOBHM, Pentagram/Bedemon, Celtic Frost riffing, and real metal guitar leads, which are not dissimilar to those found in the work of their Finnish compatriots, Sarcofagus. Although the band was active for approximately a decade, it only played a handful of shows, all of which were performed in Finland and mostly with Reverend Bizarre and Spiritus Mortis. Since Minotauri’s demise close to fifteen years ago, Arska continues to produce music via various outlets that extends his already impressive legacy. The Wizard Of Nerath by Nergal

Nergal

The Wizard Of Nerath
Nuclear War Now

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Originally released by Unisound Records in 1995, this hidden gem of Greek black metal lay dormant in the murky Greek swamp for many years; only getting the occasional CD or tape reissues on underground labels. The vinyl edition has been elusive for over a decade and fetching high prices on discogs. We’ve addressed many of the oddities of the original vinyl pressing, including the lopsided side break that resulted in 30 minutes of play time on side B, and lack of a proper band logo on the cover. CD version will be released by Frost and Fire Records from Greece.

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Pneuma Hagion once again joins forces with Nuclear War Now! Productions to release its debut full-length, “Voidgazer.” The band and label first collaborated in 2015 to bring forth the first Pneuma Hagion demo, “Trinity I,” and resumed their allegiance approximately three years later with the release of the “Trinity” LP, which compiled that original demo and the two ensuing demos in the series. Like the earlier recordings, “Voidgazer” presents a starkly monolithic variety of death metal that reflects the emptiness personified in the title. The sound itself evokes the same stifling oppressiveness of Incantation and Immolation, as it alternates between fast tempos and bludgeoning doom passages, firmly aligning itself with one of the most revered schools of U.S. death metal. Perhaps most impressively, all instruments and vocals are performed by the lone member of Pneuma Hagion, unassumingly known as R., whose gnostic reflections pervade the lyrics that are animated by his own tortured voice. The sum of these nine tracks is certain to endear “Voidgazer” to any dedicated adherent to the worship of the bleakness of human existence.

***BACK IN STOCK!!! The long-overdue reissue of the 1996 MLP, originally released on Merciless Records, which represents the zenith of Vulpecula’s concise catalog of celestial black metal. Includes the “Phoenix of the Creation” demo recordings. The brainchild of Chuck Keller (Order from Chaos, Ares Kingdom), influenced by demo-era Katatonia, Mortem (Nor), early Samael, and Bathory.

(black) Slaughtered In The Arms Of God by Amputation

Amputation

(black) Slaughtered In The Arms Of God
Nuclear War Now

***BACK IN STOCK!!! One of the most infamous Norwegian black metal bands, IMMORTAL, arose from the ashes of its lesser-known death metal incarnation, AMPUTATION. Although Immortal achieved greater renown than its predecessor, Amputation deserves its own place in death metal history, rather than just a footnote. To this end, Nuclear War Now! is proud to present the first widely-available version of Amputation’s two demos, plus an additional 1989 rehearsal, on one compilation. Entitled Slaughtered in the Arms of God, this collection includes the demo of the same title from 1990 and the preceding “Achieve the Mutilation” demo from 1989. Amputation’s original recording lineup consisted of Harald Nævdal (aka Demonaz) on guitars and vocals, Truls Kvernhusvik (guitars), Padden (bass), and Jørn Inge Tunsberg (drums). Kvernhusvik exited the band prior to the recording of the second demo, leaving the remaining trio as Amputation’s final lineup. Confirming its place in Scandivanian metal history, the Slaughtered in the Arms of God demo was recorded at Grieghallen Studios, where many of the Norwegian legends—like Mayhem, Emperor, Enslaved, and Immortal—ecorded their early albums. May this collection now serve to immortalize Amputation’s recordings both in the eyes of those already versed in the band’s dark brand of death metal, as well as those previously uninitiated.

His Majesty At The Swamp by Varathron

Varathron

His Majesty At The Swamp
Nuclear War Now

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Beginning in the early 1990s, a handful of musicians in Greece established one of the most distinctive and compelling regional sounds associated with the Second Wave of Black Metal. Rotting Christ laid the foundation for this particular sound, and other acts immediately followed suit helping to define the Greek Black Metal sound and bring it to prominence within the international scene. The importance of Varathron’s contribution cannot be overstated. 1993's His Majesty at the Swamp is arguably the greatest Greek Black Metal album of all time.

***BACK IN STOCK!!! A collection of live recordings from 666, a Norwegian antecedent to Mayhem whose Satanic aesthetic and live shows predated the more infamous black metal band. Almost completely overlooked for close to three decades, 666 (pronounced “sax-sax-sax”) was formed in the northern city of Tromsø in early 1982. In terms of sound, 666 was very closely aligned with Venom and Motörhead, who (along with The Stooges) are both identified as primary influences. The live venue was clearly the band’s preferred element, as they never recorded any studio material. Instead they played live on Norwegian television in 1983, and after toiling in their local scene for a while, the band secured its most significant gig in Harstad as a featured rock/metal performer at the Festspillene Festival, which was considered the northern region of the country’s premiere cultural event at the time.

Incantations Of Demonic Lust For Corpses Of The Fallen by Procreation

Procreation

Incantations Of Demonic Lust For Corpses Of The Fallen
Nuclear War Now

***BACK IN PRINT!!! In the years since its inception in the late 1980s, the cryptically-named Ross Bay Cult has earned a degree of reverence and mystique that is arguably unequaled by other scenes in death/black metal history in terms of its contributions of both music and legend. While the band most commonly referenced as the face of this British Columbian horde is undoubtedly the notorious Blasphemy, others such as Witches Hammer and Procreation shared members and/or stages with them and made significant impacts of their own. Procreation’s morbid tenure in this cult dated from 1989 until 1993, and although they suffered some defections in their ranks over the years, they maintained a steady nucleus throughout. Incantations of Demonic Lust for Corpses of the Fallen features both of the band's demos.

***First-ever vinyl reissue of the 1989 demo of uniquely Colombian black metal. The final recording featuring Piolin (guitars / vocals) and El Gato (drums), the integral members from Reencarnacion’s formative years. First pressing of 250 copies on jade green vinyl with 3mm jacket and 12″ insert.  By now, the name Reencarnación is well-known to fans of extreme metal. The band’s “Acompaname A La Tumba” 7” and self-titled debut LP, both released in 1988, are firmly established in the canon of the “Ultra Metal” scene associated with Medellin, Colombia. Lesser known, but no less significant is the band’s 1989 “Alucinogeno” demo. This demo reflects a departure from the sound the band achieved with its previous recordings and provides a bookend to the early phase of the band. After its release, founding member Piolín and drummer El Gato, who played together on all the early material, would part ways, and the band lay dormant for several years before Piolín resurrected the project in the mid-90s for the “Planeta Azul” demo before later guiding it into decidedly different territory. In many ways, however, “Alucinogeno” is the perfect synthesis of the many creative voices in Piolín’s mind. As the name suggests, it is hallucinatory—an amalgamation of primitive deathrash and nightmarish psychedelia. It is among the most extreme and experimental metal recordings made by that time, radically different from anything else their peers were doing. Most of the tracks are short, coming in at about three minutes or less, and have a loose, almost...
